I want free roam, I have long stopped enjoying side scroll fighting games since I was a kid. DBZ is as much about fighting trash fighters as the big boss. I want to be able to free roam around, power up and get into fights, destroy the environment. The enviromental destruction was weak in xenoverse but the freeroam was decent enough. I don't want MMO mechanics.

One of my bigger complaints about xenoverse is the story is just flat dogshit. I don't expect it to be good, but I expect it to be fun if you know what I mean. I want it to explore ridiculous ideas like you going into an alternate timeline and fucking up the timeline not fixing it. Or if you are fixing it, you should have to do stuff like kill gohan near the end to preserve the timeline after someone saves him with sad music playing the entire fight or something.

Instead it's just "We made a badguy stronger you have to defeat them!" You defeated them. They never change tactics. It never really explores anything too fun just replaying through the story as it was. Or better yet, get rid of the time mechanics. Just do an alternate world setting where you replace nappa and go around helping vegeta conquer planets, eventually overthrowing Freiza. I dunno just anything interesting rather than the same stuff we've all seen a million times that isn't really even changed all that much.

The problem with Xenoverse is that it has one of the most interesting story concepts of all of Dragon Ball media and it does nothing substantial with it. The Time Patrol concept is genius, and the villains could have been given something much more fun to do instead of just "it's the Frieza saga for the 15th time but Turles shows up for no reason". Why not have them power up King Piccolo so he kills Goku and force fusions Kami, making a timeline where he rules supreme? I've seen the "Gohan raised by Raditz" scenario a thousand times here, it's genius. Why set up time shenanigans if the only shenanigans happening are so mundane that they do nothing exciting? And don't even get me started on the character customization being so half baked that saiyan hair won't even spike up. Jesus. Even online battling is ruined with all the stat point and cheap move bullshit. And even if it wasnt its so frantic that moves miss 95% of the time. The groundwork for the Time Patrol stuff can be amazing but I don't know if I can partake in another blatant cash grab.
