Serious answer. First, do you like weeb stuff, or some of the fewer western exclusives of the PS4? If so then you need both. If not PC only, but still:

1. PC: Now is not a good time to upgrade from where you are, there is a lot of awesome tech coming down the pipe. What you have is plenty new enough to play new titles decently if you're not pushing outrageous resolution, but if you haven't already now isn't a great time to get a new display either because we're in a period of rapid improvement, it'll be a lot more stable in 9-12 months. Intel and Nvidia are at last getting a bit of competitive pressure again, new process is happening. So wait on your PC.

2. PS4. I'd honestly get the Pro if you're starting from nothing, and check around on refurb deals, craigslist and so on of course, you might already be able to find one at a good discount. It's got a plenty solid title selection, and with the installed base over 60 mil now it'll get support for quite a while.

If you hate all weeb stuff however it's less compelling, do your research on the title library first in that case. I think it's still got some fun stuff anyway but it's not PS2 level yet. Maybe in another few years it'll be closer to a no brainer for everyone.

If you find 7~ games you're interested in, get a PS4. I have the same GPU and it still performs well, albeit I don't play most modern PC games. You can play the majority of worthwhile PC games on that setup, though, since the best PC games were released 3+ years ago.

I already have a Pro so I don't really care. It probably won't be available in a lot of areas and most likely suffer from input lag, but I'm optimistic nonetheless. That said, the Slim is so cheap now and quite often in a bundle/on sale, so I don't know how Sony could possibly make it worth it for less than $10 a month.

The PS4 is solid when it's not trying to be a really high-end PC or developers don't rush out unoptimized garbage and solid successes mean that people will invest in the industry and take chances on making interesting games.

If they're good enough or easy enough to port they will likely eventually come to multiple platforms. In addition, compared a lot of Wii shovelware most of the PS4 titles aren't struggling to support a troubled feature and therefore you don't have an Atari problem.

One can ignore micro-purchases in mobile games but the games themselves are still designed first and foremost to sell them, not to necessarily offer a non-payer a good experience. Publishers used to make the most money by creating a well-made game or by shitting out licensed crap you could tell was licensed crap from a mile away, but the industry has shifted, marketing and focusing on other revenue streams makes more money now, so that's what they'll do.

People said the same thing about DLC 10 years ago, you can just ignore it, it won't affect the quality of the base games, and it went exactly where skeptics said it would go. We now have content straight-up cut from games to sell as DLC, $50 "season passes" and the like. I didn't say it was factual evidence, but there are some clear trends. Screencap this post and revisit in in another 5-10 years and see where we've ended up.
