Is it a good game?
>>
No. I stopped at mission 16 and never went back.

I'm on my 7th mgs3 playthrough instead
>>
>>377004103
Is it a good sandbox openworld game? Disregarding the story
>>
>>377004043
If it's 20 bucks or less, get it.
>>
>>377004043
It's pretty fun to roam around and take people out in weird ways, like a more sophisticated Just Cause
>>
As a huge fan of the series i hated it. Easily not just a bad mgs game but a bag game in general. I bought it once, played it, hated it and sold it. I thought hey maybe i was in the wrong mindset or i didn't enjoy it correctly it's mgs after all. So i bought it again, i hate it and now i won't touch it. Biggest disappointment since fallout 4. The open world meme needs to die.
>>
>>377004230
$10 right now
>>
>>377004306
That's like a steal desu.

It's def worth the price, solid game but meh story
>>
>>377004258
Most people say it's a bad MG game but a good open world one
>>
>>377004483
There's hardly anything to do though all it does is take away from level design
>>
>>377004043
Huge fan of the franchise and its arguablly the best in terms of gameplay. Also tons of content. One playthrough can easily take 100hrs.
Mission variety is great and open world is a welcome change from "oh look its a corridor you can only approach from one direction with guards walking the same patterns!"
>>
>>377004164

Not even. You do one Outpost and you've done them all
>>
>>377004043
Nah it's legitimately boring. I bought in on steam at release and played till like mission 13 but then didn't play it again after that and ended up uninstalling it. I reinstalled it again like 6 months ago but again only managed like 10 missions before losing all interest. There is no variety in this game from mission to mission. They're all the same and can be completed in the same way. You'll find yourself just spending hours knocking out people with the stun gun and extracting them which is boring as fuck. Also the environments are literally copy and paste.
>>
>>377004043
It's a good trophy collecting game if that's what you're asking.
>>
>>377004483
>it's a bad MG game but a good open world one
That never made sense. Not in regards to RE and not in regards to MGS. The titles are what the devs want them to be. Its just butthurt from people not likin the change. MGSV is the best one after 3.
>>
>>377004718
this guy gets it

>>377004043
>it is a good game. yes gameplay is pretty solid.
>it is a good mgs no it's shit
>>
I might replay it in a year or 2
>>
>>377004483
It feels like everything that made MGS special is gone in 5. It just doesn't have that charm. The story sucks, the open world is filled with nothing and every village is the same. Most of the missions are repeats of themselves so you're pretty much grinding the same shit for a few dozen hours. I blame it all on open world, if they had just condensed it, it could've been a great game. Also the lack of TECHNOLOGY in this game compared to the others is disappointing as i always loves the little things in the previous games.

Don't listen to those guys. Mechanically it's a very solid game with plenty of player freedom and variety

For $10 is almost free. Bought it on release and had a great time. I'd rather play this kind of open world than any other Far Cry like.

I would say that it is a great game, that had a story that (while interesting) is largely unimportant when looking at the complete story of the metal gear games. Very deep gameplay, and very open-ended. I would say, get it if youre lookng for good gameplay, but the story is mostly window dressing (as many MAIN story missions have little connection to the main plot). Also, (unless you really want to) don't bother trying to 100% it, it takes the fun out of it and turns the game into a checklist. I tried to do this, but the optional mission tasks are required for the 100%, so I burned myself out, and for me, there is no point going back to it, since it feels like busy work without any particular reason. So all Im saying is; you'll get a good game out of this if you do decide to get it, but don't expect too much, this isn't your typical mgs game.
>>
>>377005917
man, fuck off. The game is fantastic, it just has a bunch of pseud shitters who emphasize aesthetics because they aren't able to appreciate or perhaps even comprehend nuance.

Mechanically, the game is flawless. Just because it didn't pander to your head canon does it mean it was bad..
>>
>>377006102
>very deep gameplay
Yeah stealth all the way through or use a silencer that's deep my man, So much variety.
>>
>>377006260
sounds like you don't know how to play it lol.
>>
>>377006260
I mean, you could get through some areas using only the magazine if you really wanted to. You are right in that there is a "meta" in terms of the best way to get through an area. But the gameplay still leaves plenty of room to experiment with different items and methods.

It's not the game's fault you failed to learn the mechanics

Sad to think in retrospect that GZ was the better designed game. It obviously had less content than TPP but you could see it had the original vision for MGSV.
>>
>>377004043
It's great fun.
>>
>>377007656

How so?
>>
>>377007323
Well I think of it as another tactic. Since it costs a lot of GMP in order to use high grade items, sometimes it is a solid strategy to save money and try to complete a mission using as little equipment as possible. It's not always about gimping yourself for the sake of making it more difficult.
>>
>>377008025
I used to try this.

Then I got the soldier scanner and started blowing the heads off anyone who wasn't A and above.

Problem with MGS V is that it is nothing more than a glorified filler. Name at least 3 important story points and I'll buy you a Steam game.

No it fucking wasn't.

GZ is as good as some of the better missions in MGSV, but it has absolutely nothing on the best of them.
>>
>>377008123
Well, I used to play savvy during the story, but then I finished it and did the same as you just so I could get demon snake. Cos my heroism got me good enough soldiers, so run and gun for fun.
>>
Say what you will about mgsv, but at least it doesn't have octocamo.
>>
>>377004043
I think it's worth a shot. I went in without jumping on the hypw and found myself enjoying it.

The story's a fucking mess, the second half is a literal retreading of the already-repetitive first half, and there's a lot of balancing issues, but the gameplay is fucking great, the graphics are beautiful and you can have a lot of fun fucking around and experimenting.

I got really hooked into the gameplay and sunk in almost 200 hundred hours, but I understand it's not for everyone.
>>
>>377008464
No, it has the Animal camo which is virtually the same thing.

>"""stealth""" game where you have to take enemies alive
>1,000 lethal weapons with no suppressor
>2 non-lethal weapons, one without suppressor
>the best (S Rank) way for you to beat a mission is to take a nearby tank and just go straight to the objective, alarms flaring and all, because stealth literally doesn't matter as long as you are fast
>wolf that is literally a radar
>mini-metal gear that is literally a Sanic Tank
>shitty cookie cutter dead online mode
>50% of the game, LITERALLY 50% of the whole game is just copy-pasted versions of the first half of missions with """different rules"""

The gameplay is good, but it doesn't compensate for the complete fucking hack Kojimbo is.

The game itself is a piece of shit and if you can get just MGS V: Ground Zeroes you'll be getting a much better experience.

The full game, MGSV, is hands down a much worse game than it's demo Ground Zeroes, let that sink in, It's cold outside.

Big boss using venom to sneak away and become one of the type of people he's been fighting against since mgs 3

Skullface setting in motion all the events of every single solid snake game in the series

Venom pushing liquid over the edge and igniting his weird patricidal inferiority complex by endlessly making him look bad
