I think there was an interview with some Sega person where they said a new home console Arcadia game is unlikely because Sega doesn't have the money, or staff experience to create a modern RPG of that scale for the home console market.

The perception is the random encounter turn based JRPG formula just wouldn't cut it as a home console game in 2017 and RPGs are usually massive projects that cost a ton of money they don't have and require a lot of talented specialized people they don't have. If you step back and look at how high the bar for quality has been set for RPGs in recent years I can understand why. Nearly all RPGs now are like half RPG and half something else, they have multi-million dollar budgets, they take 10 years to actually come out, they spend near entire console generations in development and they have to appeal to million to make their money back. Final Fantasy XV, Witcher 3, the Mass Effect games, Persona 5, Elderscrolls, Fallout, Souls, that's the kind of shit people expect out of the home console RPG these days. The bar is just set too high.

Mobile and handheld might still be an option since expectations are lower as well as budgets and risk, I just wouldn't get my hopes up for a real Arcadia sequel unless they farm out the IP to another developer.

Nu-Sega has been around for quite some time. They've made literally 3 games for like a decade and that's it. Sanic, Yakuza and Total War.

Their track record as of late has been more miss than hit outside of Japan.
