I did play this. Bought it a few months before Dark Souls came out because there wasn't much else to play on PS3. I had a blast playing it, so I got Dark 1 on launch day. My fondest gaming memories will be from these games.

I feel like all the bosses were memorable for something other than... maybe the first boss in area 5? I don't remember much about it since you just kind of walked up to it and killed it. At least the Dirty Colossus had the dumb bee gimmick. I remember every other boss though.

The bosses in Demon's Souls are memorable in ways the no others Souls game quite did. Most were more like puzzle bosses that presented the player with a unique situation rather than being a straight fight. Once you knew the solution, the bosses were mostly pretty easy. The rest of the souls series were only interested in giving you straightforward fights. The closest thing to a "Demon's" style boss in Dark Souls 3 was the Ancient Wyvern.

I've never played any Souls game. I've been meaning to buy a PS3 so I could start from the beginning but I've been lazy.

I bought the game when Dark Souls II came out because I wanted to get into the series but it was just a little too clunky for me. I did beat the game for the first time last October and it was pretty fun.

However, I am not really a fan of the world tendency system or at least the way it was executed, because it seems like an interesting concept just poorly implemented.

Fun game overall but Dark Souls is definitely better, also Valley of Defilement is waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than Blight Town.

You know how some gaylords describe a game as "comfy"?

Soulsborne games are damn sure not comfy, but they radiate a certain feel that you would get from a horror setting. Creepy isn't quite the right word either though. The hub you start in is the best example in Demon's Souls though.

As for combat you're not gonna be flying around the screen like in Kingdom Hearts 2. The game wants you to take your time and use memorization like the games of yesteryear. People also like the pros and cons of equipment. Outside of some of the ultimate shit, everything that has pros has cons. Heavy shields and armor that make you a tank make you slow as shit for example.

I dropped Demon's Souls like 3 times where you're at and picked up 4 years later and finished it.

Honestly though, it probably would have been better if you started this type of game from Bloodborne.

You have it good though, $50 is pocket change. Places where videogames aren't too widespread get ridiculously pricey second hand markets.

Is fine and all but the bonfires are too far apart and shortcuts get shittier further into the game. I don't mind that if the area is actually a challenge to get through but mostly its just tedious. Dark Souls got the bonfire distance right and every other Souls game has way too damn many.
