Because they could have done something with desmond but they just went fuck all and ended the story. After ezio they could have went with haytham and his wisdom about templars but instead they went with a whiny mudboy who cries all game about a man who fucked his mom. Black flag was fresh with decent story and actually a fun pirate game at the same time

Sea dogs, Pirates of the Caribbean, Age of pirate 2: city of lost ships. It's actually a single series, just had troubles with western localization. AssCreed4 ship combat was modeled after it, but heavily "streamlined" for casuals.

Rogue just feels like a big AC4 expansion. It's a great game on its own but nothing special if you've already played AC4.

Clearly they either planned to end it after 3 or wanted some reboot so they went fuck it all with "muh solar flare" that is magically stopped by Desmond (somehow spacefaring aliens coudnt do it, but he could) and he died doing so.
They could have made an epic story through the ages of how pieces of eden influenced our civilization.
Puzzles and conspiracy theory of how prominent figures and religions have risen to power using pieces of eden were great tie between past and present. This was best part of "modern" AC2 story.
Even the aliums and how they created humans were ok as this was tied to pieces and how they posed as gods in ancient times.
But solar flare ended all this, gods are gone, now they reduced it to "evil corporation wants X and is using you" vanilla story.
Treat it as walking simulator in given era. There is no deeper story now.

its reallly a lot like AC4,but the setting is different.i like the river valles,you can maneuver it with or without your ship which is pretty cool.
