I still get to play games with one of them + new peeps, not as often as I'd like but its better than not at all.

Back in the day we had a copy of Melee running at somebodies house probably at all times during the summer, at least one of us was playing it. Kirby Air Ride became huge for us the moment it came out. Age of Empires 2 and the Star Wars clone were a constant throughout all of this. Smash 64 and Kart 64 were in the rotation as well. Halo 3 and Battlefront 2 whenever those came out. We all got into WoW by the end of middle school and played that until near the end of high school. Played a bunch of Starcraft 2. And then at the end of highschool random mutliplayer PC games and Dreamcast

Today its pretty much anything multiplayer on WiiU, mostly Smash 4 and Mario Kart (Missing Hyrule Warriors for multiplayer games still though), there NES mini/classic/whatever, or any games for the N64 or Gamecube they have or I bring.

Gaming until I graduated highschool was absolutely sublime but I can't complain with about the setup I have now.

That said outside of the occasional MMO fever I don't really find myself very interested in online multiplater still

I moved to another country as a kid and haven't talked to them in 10 years

I can remember being in High School and going round to one specific friends house every week on a Wednesday because his parents were never in. It was just hanging out and playing games all night.

Full party of people through in one room playing N64 Goldeneye winner stays on stuff and me in the main living room with a massive rear projection TV that took up an entire wall playing Resident Evil 2 by myself. One by one the other room trickles through to watch me play instead.

Vivid as fuck memories of the most pointless shit, like trying Chamomile juice boxes.

Days with the NES, the SNES, the N64 at my place, Genesis, Playstation, Dreamcast at my best friends' house. We were kids, we didn't have assloads of disposable income, but we could divide and conquer libraries when our parents deemed it appropriate to spend on video games for us.

I spent so much of the 90s, after school, and on summer evenings, holding court over an N64 with Mario Parties, Smash, Kart, Goldeneye with friends I'd known since kindergarten.

I remember one of the first girls I ever had a crush on really loved Yoshi. I'd constantly invite her over with the pretense of letting her play games like Super Mario World. Sometimes she'd invite me over to her house to help her get past difficult parts in games she had. I had my first kiss with the fucking Yoshi's Story theme playing in the background.

Time passed. We moved on, we became adolescents. We were lucky enough that once we were being separated by geography, the new millennium was nigh, the Internet had gone mass market, and e-mail and stuff made it easy to stay in touch.

I wish this had a perfect ending where I hit post, and in a few weeks come Memorial Day weekend we'll all reunite at a BBQ and our kids'll be playing Mario Kart. But nah, some just drifted away, with barely any interest in reconnecting, some became intolerable, some died tragically young.

I kept in touch with a few, you can count them on one hand, and we still do try to make time for each other, even if it's just sending a message or a screenshot about the game we're playing, and the rare times we have enough time to play together.

I play with coworkers, but they mostly devote their time to whatever console shooter the biggest publishers are cranking out. I like spending time with them, whether it's grabbing a drink after work or mindlessly spending time in COD, but I still long for those days when I always had someone that could constantly engage with me on my level, but I guess that's why I spend so much time with you fags.

My friends were boring normies. I played sports games with my friend but he didn't play much of anything else. I wish I had some fighting game friends.
