there was this isometric 3rd multiplayer shooting game. You gained xp for doing things and could capture buildings and they would give bonus xp but others could come ind and kill you and take it over.

It was PvE and full pvp and friendly fire all at the same time, could work with someone to cap a building and then betray them and steal their gear. Friend got me into it, it was insanely nuanced and I felt like I just scratched the surface of understanding it because friend guided me.

Anyways, you'd see the same people pretty often.

That game or ss13 are my two top votes in games that are inexplicably alive with a small community.

Don't know if it's still up but I played a few games online of Red Faction a few years ago and there were a couple full servers.

People are still playing MGO (both MGS3's and MGS4's) using hacked consoles (soon to not be necessary, and you can play MGS3's online using an emulator).

I used to play a fuck ton of online risk in the 8th grade.
Also theres an online yu gi oh simulator (yes i know its gay) where you can build any deck
I play with friends from my home town every semester and come home to play with cards

there is an online version of Fallout 2 called Fallout online or f022 or something.

SA-MP(san andreas multiplayer) still has thousands of players, and that game is like 10 years old

Pretty much any MUD older than 10 years old.

The fact this game is still around, with the same people is amazingly interesting.
Good for spooks too.

Stunts, a racing game from the DOS days still has at least one site that hosts regular tournaments with custom tracks.

GunZ the Duel

One of the greatest action games of all time, still on life support on private servers. FreestyleGunz pulls a couple hundred people most hours of the day. I hope it never dies.

DayZ mod. Honestly, I'm amazed that anyone bothers to keep servers up anymore. Almost all are completely empty and the few that still see users (Europa and US 434) might see 10 players on a Saturday. It's a shame, I love the mod, but it's the most boring game ever made when playing on dead servers.
