How are these games to someone who doesn't really care at all about Digimon?
>>
>>376971557
Depends on the game. The only one I've enjoyed in recent memory was Cyber Sleuth and even that was unpolished and lazy.
>>
>>376971557
They are low budget. I'm currently playing digimon world and I like it, but I played the original on PS1 so I knew what I can expect. Cyber Sleuth is more like a regular JRPG with a linear plot, next order is like digimon world 1 where you explore a world, do quests for random digimon to join your city and train your digimon who will die eventually and you need to retrain them every time. You can get cyber sleuth on sales for like 10 bucks, if you don't expect too much it's actually kinda fun.
>>
Can someone post Angewomon lewds?
>>
Digimon world three is a very standard jrpg for the ps1 but it's also an amazing example of one with a cool card game and enjoyable world to explore.
>>
>>376972283
Oh shit, Digimon World. I actually got this and a strategy guide for Christmas or something. I remember my little brother was especially crazy about it and we spent ages trying to get.... that one digimon that's basically greymon but a skeleton? I actually replayed it 2 years ago and it's kinda shitty, I never noticed as a kid though...

God, even as a kid I hated having to retrain your digimon every single time they carked it. I've always hated losing progress, and having to start over made me feel like a lot of my time was wasted.

>>376972330

what kind of lewds?
>>
>>376972893
I think that's part of the appeal since you feel like a trainer more than anything. Next order has some improvements for that stuff like tamer levels where you can spend skillpoints on stuff, for example stat inheritage for new generations of digimon or increase of training efficiency. The difficulty is still ridiculous at times, where sometimes you have to get past really hard enemies and just hope they don't attack you while the next area you get to is easy as fuck. I had a huge nostalgia boner for the original and I'm not disappointed with this one, but I can definetly see all the flaws that would put people off.

>>376973439
I'm kinda interested, so maybe I'll have a look around. Thanks anon.

Speaking of bullshit areas, remember that one place in Digimon World that sped up time? I had a pretty good digimon there but it died from old age pretty quickly in there and I was extremely salty about it. Its literally why I stopped playing the game. I also remember being very annoyed every time I got the digimon that's literally a pile of shit
>>
>>376973969
Yeah, I remember as a kid that 90% of my digimons evolved into either that green slime that eats shit or that yellow turd that eats shit. I think they made things a bit easier because I didn't have those yet. And thank fucking god because they got their shit pushed in really hard by everything.
>>
>>376974174
My little brother and I were convinced that turning into those shit mons was due to you shitting on the field instead of a toilet, and that making them eat all of the shit would absolve you of your sins. We also spent a huge chunk of money on those toilet items, and it was extremely frustrating when a mon would refuse to take the item and ended up shitting all over the floor.
>>
>>376974489
You have some quicktravel in town this time around and you unlock a digimon for your town relatively early that gives you those toilets this time around, so pooping all over the place usually isn't that big of a problem. I think those shit eating digimon also have some very high evolution stages so maybe they're not as bad.
>>
>>376974954
So they're like magikarp then? At least they would make them worth it... By the way, how the hell did combat even work in that game? We just spammed whatever move we wanted until our digimon did it, but I feel like that was the wrong way to go around it? I remember fighting some fire guy under a inside a lava place under a mine? He fucking kicked our shit in, and it was really frustrating watching our digimon stand there looking dumbfounded sometimes.Fuck his attack that makes you all pixellated too
>>
>>376975540
Digimon basically chose their attacks themself, in this game you can cheer them on to build up order points and give them direct commands. There's some other stuff you can do with command points like order them to do a super attack when you cheer them on a bunch of times or order them to fuse together into a very powerful digimon, but for smaller enemies you'll most likely just watch them brawl it out for themself.
>>
>>376972893
I've been replaying World recently and it's just as good as I remember; horribly flawed but still pretty unique and rather fun.

>>376972763
Also replayed this recently and I really do not recall the game requiring so much backtracking. The encounter rate just makes it plain hell.

>>376974489
>would refuse to take the item
Scolding them after that happens causes both its discipline and happiness to increase quite considerably, as well as making the next attempt at giving them the item guaranteed to work.

>>376975540
Commands were tied to intelligence, where it was capable of following more specific orders as it gained more. Initially, with sub 100 int, you can't really make it do anything. But at 500, you can make it use any one of its three specific moves, defend itself to reduce/negate damage, focus on another target, or have it move away from the target. Spamming a single command doesn't affect how often it might. Contrary to >>376976091, once you're at 500 Int and have decent discipline, they'll follow orders exactly as you input.
>>
>>376976738
>>376976091
Oh, so that's how it worked huh? Did the game ever explain this? I mean I could of missed it since I was just a kid, but this all news to me.
>>
>>376977567
The game barely explains anything. Though that's probably in part due to the bad translation.
>>
>>376977567
DW1 doesn't explain shit. N0 is much better with that
>>
>>376978190
N0 actually made realise something about W1 when I recently replayed it. The scene that occurs after beating Machinedramon in the Back Dimension suddenly made a lot more sense.

All of this digimon talk is making me want to try one of the games. What's on the PS4, Next Order and Cyber-something? Which one of those should I get? I'm kinda leaning towards Next Order since that seems more closer to Digimon World, unless I got them mixed up or I'm straight up wrong.
>>
Since this is a Digimon thread I might as well ask, did the levels actually matter?

Gatomon is a Champion level Digimon and yet Angewoman is about as strong as Angemon, but then Angemon gets an ultimate form and can open fucking black holes to one-shot one of the final bosses.

Are they like power levels in DBZ or was there actually a correlation that made sense?

>>376981565
You can consider next order a direct sequel to digimon world, Cyber Sleuth is more like a traditional JRPG that gets an updated version next year which includes the original one. The cheapest I've seen New Order is 30 bucks on NA amazon while you can get cyber sleuth sometimes for 10-15 bucks. Both are very low budget though and look mostly like ass.

I kinda wish you could manually kill your own digimon. I remember 3 losses in the original and it was dead, here they just die off old age and sometimes you end up with a mega and a rookie.
>>

In the original you didn't have 2 assholes to take care of, so there was no point. Now you have 2 and they sometimes live different amounts of time, which means you'll be wasting time in the gym with a very high level digimon that barely gets any stats from training.
>>

That taomon thing. I got one in yellow, a silver one and then a purple one. They all evolved from foxes too, like a ninetailed yellow digimon, ninetailed silver digimon and a ninetailed purple one.

I'm playing through Dusk for the first time and while I'm enjoying it, it's too fucking easy. I mean I guess post-game makes up for it but still. Do the newer games have a more consistent difficulty curve? Also post cool Digimon.

It's only rare because they cancelled everyone's preorder
I can't think of anything more sinister

>tfw ordered it from P-Bandai directly and never had to worry about this shit
Nor will I have to worry about pic related either.
Assuming they didn't cancel production of her because she's not as popular. Which would suck.

>>Not "childish" or child friendly like the anime or games like Pokemon

>Type: Null was created by Faba of the Aether Foundation to be an "Anti-UB Fighting life-form". Codenamed "Beast Killer", Type: Null was given cells taken from all known Pokémon types with the intention of giving it the ability to shift between types by holding a corresponding Memory, an ability originally inspired by the myths about Arceus found in Canalave Library. This ability led the Aether Foundation to give it the name Type: Full (Japanese: タイプ:フル Type: Full). Three known models of Type: Full were created, but all three rejected the RKS System and went berserk. After being subdued, the three Type: Full were given limiter helmets to lessen the effects of the RKS System's rejection and were put into permanent cryogenic stasis, and the "Beast Killer" project was deemed a failure. Afterward, they were deemed failures and their name changed to Type: Null. At some point before the events of Sun and Moon, Gladion was able to free one of the Type: Null, which he adopted as his own in the hopes of finding a way to undo the effects of the limiter helmet and allow it to use the RKS System.

Sun and Moon was my first game since Emerald and I was amazed at how well it can appeal to both demographics, adults, and children.

Having to go with pokedex/lore stuff that is never referenced in the actual game is pretty desperate.

I've been waiting for an English patch for this for years. Now that one's out, I forgot how to patch my PSP games. Even if I remembered, I don't have time to enjoy it. Please tell me I'm not missing anything good and that it's terrible.
>>
>>376994085
Its mediocre, the 3DS version however is fantastic.
>>
>>376993642
Well the lore is part of the game, and is pretty easy to read it.
Also the story is better scripted than the cyber sleuth one at least for me.
>If you don ' t make it , I be sure your remains at least get back home .
This is an actual phrase of the game.
>>
>>376994332
How? Isn't the PSP a stronger system?
>>
>>376994332

What's so much nicer about the 3DS version?
>>
>>376994732
>>376994752
Much much more content, evolutions, online play, dress up your mons sidequests, areas etc
>>
>>376994979
Oh yeah also an entire new storyline about the X antibody.
>>
>>376994979
Is there an English patch? If yes, do you need a hacked 3ds?
>>
>>376995176
Not that I know of, I just own the game and have a JP 3DS.
>>
>>376995176
There's a patch in the works by the same guys who did the psp one.
