That fucking mission in the sewers with Jinx
Wasn't so bad when I figured out kicking the ox makes it go faster. Then it was really bad when I realized kicking the ox deals damage to it and accidentally killed the thing moments before reaching the city gates.

It stands up after a bit
And you can heal it for more kicking, it doesn't do the white health thing like players

It means you switch to a more advanced class as soon as possible but the only weapons available at that point are for basic classes and the advanced classes can't equip those. Well actually Sorcerer can get a weapon from one of the bounty quests that has you kill cyclops but if you're building for max strength, you're fucked.

God I love Jak 2, not only for being a fantastic game, but it's a litmus test for casuals.
>mfw playing this game for the first time as a kid and just loving it
>mfw playing it as an adult and having nostalgia, and everything felt just right
Holy shit though, finding all the butthurt casuals complaining about this game has been fun though. I remember being talking about some super hard quest in the water slums, and I didn't remember any part in the water slums that was hard, it was a pretty underused part of the game, so I got exited and looked it up thinking I missed a part. I was disappointed when I found out it was just that side mission where you run from Crimson guards over the platforms. I literally did that first go no trouble at all as a kid, and again when I was an adult. I have no idea how people find it difficult.

>the bombs and sewers
I know, they were so easy, I wish NG actually put some hard parts into the game. The Jetboard just made those sections a cake walk.
Why was Jak 2 so easy bros?
>gift this to a friend
>go to his house
>hasn't played
>grab a few beers and start the game
>let him create his character
>pretty normal male character all around
>get to the point where you customize your pawn

>that starting Bloodborne like city level
>undead village place
So boring. Say what you want about Dark Souls II, but at least it's world had many different ways to go right from the start, just like the original Dark Souls and Demon's Souls. I don't really like the very start of Bloodborne either, like the whole part from where you spawn until the first boss.
>>376971006
Not OP, but how can you heal NPCs?
I never have a mage in my party so I wouldn't know if you can command them to do that or not, I usually go solo or take my pawn who's usually a rugged generic fighter who I write an autistic backstory for. I love the idea of two fighter bros at it against the world, I do that a lot...

That's what's stopping me form going back to Persona 4, I switched PS3s half way through my playthrough and lost my save. I really don't want to go through all that prologue shit again. I haven't gotten Persona 5 yet either because I want to beat 4 first. I might just give up on Persona and go play SMT.
Practically any JRPG and the first ~5-10 hours of the game. Enjoy the lack of any real character building options and the combat that consists of spamming basic attacks and potions.

>>376974605
I loved all three of them, but personally Jak 2 > Jak 3 > Jak 1. None of them are bad though.
With Jak 2 I think a lot of people went in expecting a kiddy platformer, and got fucking rekt. Jak 1 for me, while good, was way way way to easy. Not even boasting but I could finish it in a single sitting without dying when I was younger because it was short enough to be finished in one afternoon. It was good but 2 was a definite improvement and the difficulty increase was needed as it gave you a nice challenge instead of being a cakewalk like all previous platformers are.
So yeah, maybe it was platformer fans encountering their first hard game? I played multiple genres so I was used to harder things than platformers so I didn't really notice Jak 2 as being very hard outside of just a few small areas you might have to replay a few times, but nothing even that memorably difficult.

It's not even a debate for me because as far as unique high production games go, Jak 2 is way up there. 1 and 2 were decent I guess but 2 stands out like crazy.

Jak 2 had such an interesting visual style. Well all of them did really. I dunno it was something about the way the engine did models and textures, it was so clean and crisp. Dinput for most of the CE scripts with a user friendly GUI http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/96/?
Press f12 in the inventory menu to click on it, it offers a lot of stuff that make the game much better to play. Like infinite sprinting or no encumbrance, or tweaks to jumping and augments(example: speeding up magic). You can also re-level your character, it's just essential for veterans and new players alike imo.
Remove arisen scar, nude mod, better inventory icons(like the one that highlights clothing, best mod), 'HD' face textures.

I don't advise using it on a first playthrough, but there is a mod that adjusts the stat gains for the hybrid classes to make them not shit and that's pretty fun to mess with. Being able to play the whole game as Magick Archer or Mystic Knight without worrying about stat gains is nice. Not to mention that most people end up leveling other classes for 200 levels for the perfect build and the mod lets you ignore that too.
Again, probably should avoid it on a first playthrough but who am I to judge.
>>376960895
.Megaman X5 is this. You start a new game and then remember the shit tutorial section. After soldiering through that, you enter the stage select and realize you have to endure Duff McWhalen's wild ride. Fuck everything about that.
I think this alone should see HL2 stripped of its legendary 10/10 status
>>376980904
Dark Souls 2 actually had quite a few different possible paths in the beginning of the game. The overall progression was still linear but aside from going beginning->middle->end you could do the 3 different beginning levels in any order, and then the middle levels etc
3 gives you one real option to sequence break, and that's killing Dancer early which is clearly not really intended, and all you unlock is earlier than normal access to a couple different other linear paths that end in dead ends anyway
The actual level design in 3 is solid, but they clearly don't value the interconnected world that DaS1 had as highly as they should. It would be pretty easy to fix, too. Hide a shortcut to the Demon Ruins in the Road of Sacrifices or something, remove the requirement that 4 lord die to get into the Archives since they didn't even bother implementing it in an interesting way, and add a portal or something from the Cathedral of the Deep to the Profaned Capital.
It doesn't even require any real map redesigns. Obviously a naturally interconnecting world would be better, but with maybe 3% more effort they could have made additional playthroughs 300% more interesting

As for nude mods, I never found them essential but they're nice to have. Makes the romance spicier if you know there is something under neath.
>>376981357
Yeah, I remember hearing about that long ago when I used to lurk Dragon's Dogma threads out of curiosity. So the Mystic Knight is like a paladin? Or is it a knight class that can use low level entry spells to buff and attack? I just want to know if its something that I should start out with cause I really like magic using knights. But if it is like you said where I have to level up other classes then transfer their abilities over when I reclass, ala Disgaea then I might just go full melee.
I'd rather just play through it once slowly, doing everything I can along the way. Don't think I'm going to play for over 60hrs since my backlog is 22games long.
>>376978248

>>376991668
I had real fun building my settlement, I used the mod where I could build anywhere without limits and I made a great city and a nice base for myself. I never built in the assigned locations though and being forced to sounds like a pain in the ass.Fallout 4 was actually really fun for me, I'd venture out each day and clear out zones near my base, the area without enemies around my base growing each day, it was comfy as fuck. I only used a few select weapons and had a massive building to store all the power armor I collected.
>>376991704

The spin attack with the axe and the music box was how I beat him at first. The third use of the box makes him hulk out regardless of how much health he has, so use it twice, beat on him til he transforms, then use it a third time once he does. Makes him a lot easier with a fresh character.
>>376991704

>>376960895
I was expecting so much worse from this quest when I played the game for the first time last year. It was a pretty standard a d generic quest as far as Arpgs are concerned.
>>376992326
I mean I like the Minutemen in parts like The Castle and Artillery (especially with mods to make the Artillery actually useful and not a wet fart that barely goes one foot beyond you), I also like the "Nuclear Colonial" kind of idea, but fuck me all the work I have to put into it.
Not just work to just build a shitty shack, place some beds, food, water, turrets and a settler radio there while I fucked off to do other shit, I mean REALLY make them all nice. I typically only build up either Sanctuary, or The Castle. I'm just not patient enough to do it fair either like going out to find all the components I need to just build and shit like that.
>>376989010
That was most certainly not fun.
The intro cinematic on Mass Effect 2. You have to watch it before designing your character and it's unskippable.

It wasn't lagging for me on PS3 superslim at all, the platforming wasn't hard at all, I could see every enemy jumping out of the shadows from a mile away, I've blocked or dodged most of the poison darts flying at me and getting through the ogres hurling rocks at me was pretty easy too.
The Valley of Defilement's swamp area in DeS, or The Gutter in DaS2 was infinitely harder.

ME1 starts out with the character creator right off the bat before any actual walking around/gameplay.
2 has you run around the Normandy before it blows up and Shepard gets spaced, then Cerberus picks you up and that's when you do character creation.

/v/ doesn't hate Blighttown, it's one of the few good swamp levels in souls

PC /v/ hates blighttown.
The lighting effects on the port were crippling. On console it just stopped loading the effecta and the scene was a little darker.

Ah, I misread then. I thought anon meant to create a character, THEN look at it in a cutscene or something other. I didn't really care for DA:I, but I loved how they handled the CC. Soon as you hit play, you brought to it, then get to see your creation right after. The best CC Bioware ever made.
