FFXIV is more tactical while WoW is more button mashy as a addon tells you what to do

XIV has plenty of issues that bother me, but I would never play wow because it's entire artstyle disgusts me. I don't wanna play as a fucking goblin with giant shoulders made of neon colored fire while I ride my le epic robot ostrich just because I can mash keys faster.

nigger have you played WoW recently? Just about every DPS have procs that reset cooldowns, give charges, or enhance a skill temporarily. You are constantly mashing your skills as they randomly reset or charge. It gets so overwhelming that raiders have to use addons to make the buttons bigger to see and have audio/text dialogue pop in your face when a mechanic happens so you don't have to take your eyes away from your hotbar.

The PvP community is bereft with people who win trade and speed hack in Feast and never get caught because Square simply doesn't care enough to do anything about it because the community is too small for them to want to devote attention to. So in the PvP community there's a whole league of people who shittalk and bash people for cheating and wintrading by a multitude of means, and then you find out weeks later that the very same people bashing people for cheating are also cheating themselves. And when that's discovered, it's okay because people either brush it under the rug because they're in the same PvP clique or FC.

The only time Square has ever done anything about cheaters in Feast is when the person actually admits to them in an open letter that they've cheated, which has happened in one or two instances. Aside from that nothing is resolved so the same circlejerk of "elite PvPers" cheat and then meme on casuals for it despite Feast really just being a fucking awful game mode all around, both in its design and the community its created.

Frontlines is at least tolerable because it hides the fact that XIV wasn't made for PvP behind large amounts of clusterfucked battling and objectives. It also barely has anyone cheating it in because it's casual as shit. But feast? Nah man, fuck Feast, and that awful double-standard waving community its created. They used to be fairly good but recently they feel like more of an afterthought to her. At lot of the time she describes mechanics in a very vague manner or gets them flat-out wrong and it confuses a lot of people.

Her 2.x guides were generally good, but her 3.x guides were generally pretty bad.

As far as landscapes go they both have some pretty impressive ones.

But WoW's character models are shpwing their age. The WoD model revamps didn't help all that much either.
WoW has some of the ugliest fucking armor imaginable. The flat and painted on chest and leg armor look is the absolute worst, and they never go back and update textures on older armor like they do the world around them, so everything prior to Pandaria looks like ass when standing up against newer shit.

Thr same goes for enemies. I know SE does the same shit with porting in enemies from other FF games, but at least they clean them up a little.

Mounts aren't any better. Blizzard has been half assing it for years, and most older zones are fucking awful even after the Cataclysm revamp.

first, something that everyone needs to understand is: when do you use shields?
you use shields when:
a)damage is higher than max hp and you need the extra hp to survive
b)to reduce the healing the other healers needs to do when the party suffers multiple instance of non-lethal aoe damage

to compensate the lack of strong raw healing (Cure 2/Benefic 2) they get the healbot fairy with insanely good buffs, that will do most of your job, leaving you time to put on dots to keep doing a sustained damage

in most content it will play out like this:
1) adlo the tank
2) put on dots, bane, spam broil
3a) if aoe damage > max hp once = deployment or succor/soil
3b) if aoe damage < max hp once = Indomitability
3c) if aoe damage < max hp two or more = Indomitability + rouse/whsipering dawn
4) use your other skills depending on the situation

if the damage wouldn't be survivable, you need heavy mitigation so you want to deploy or at least succor/soil
it really only applies during early raid progression when shits hits like a truck, it's nice to have in simpler content but people won't die regardless of it because those fights are balanced around 1) minimum ilv and 2) a double whm composition, that not having shields otherwise wouldn't be able to progress

if the damage is survivable, you can just exit cleric stance, press Indomitability have everyone close to full hp again, and go back dpsing
it's the most broken healing ability in the game

knowing the fight will help you judge then if you can just use rouse + whispering dawn instead, if there won't be more aoe damage, you can ignore the party while the hots get them back to full hp

The main criticism that I hear for PVP in this game is how uncoordinated and laggy it gets. Melee have skills where they do bonus damage or effects based on position like if you attack a person from the front or rear. With the slower tick rate, it can cause problems. Like on your screen it appears you strike the target from the rear but the game registers it as a flank hit since the server updated faster than your client.

Basically this game wasn't designed for PVP in mind. It was added after launch.

Play them all. You don't have to reroll a new character. All the classes under one character and you aren't gimped for doing so. Any character you level receives a bonus to experience if you have a higher level character.

Personally I found THM/BLM fucking dull, but lots of people absolutely enjoy it. Healers are encouraged to deal damage inbetween healing so they are fun.

Can anyone else tell me if they have weird shadow loading issues in heavensward areas? It seems to me that if you're flying around and land the shadows are very low res and blurry for several seconds before they fix themselves.

FFXIV has poor textures but I really appreciate the lighting and scenery in the game. Some areas at the right time of day and weather look absolutely stunning. Even more when time passes and you see the shadows and lighting change dynamically. This also applies to some dungeons too. You could enter Neverreap when it's sunny then by the time you finish the sky is sunset.

At one point in development it used to be that full thrust combo would activate the claw skill while the chaos thrust combo activate the wheeling thrust skill.

I got two commendations as dps today by saying nothing, failing to move out of orange circles half the time and accidentally pulling aggro. I think it probably helped that the healslut kept spamming emotes at the tank and the tank DC'd halfway through before coming back so I was one of the only ones to not be a total fuck up

I really like them. Most of the NPCs are pretty cool, and Gridania and Ishgard are my favorite city-states. Ishgard sure is full of cunts and even gridanians can be very xenophobic at times, but I feel that it makes sense with their lore, and that also makes the friendly NPCs even more enjoyable.
As playable characters, I really don't see the "negative" aspects of their appearances (except if you go max height, I guess), and I actually like their animations and emotes. They look pretty good in most gear sets in the game, and I love tall but delicate women.
