Only really at first, in the case of 2. They fixed a lot of the popular points to pick. I've played both the PS2 version and then, some like a year or maybe even just 6 months later, the PS3 version and it only looked upressed.

I understand the reputation it has earned, but perpetuating some of the old problems the port had is just dumb.

PC port. Ignore the morons below, a native PC game is WAY easier and faster to run than dealing with one of the worst emulators on this planet.

Here's the SH PC Guide + DL links:

SH1 NTSC DDL:

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW widescreen fixes mentioned in guide, the sh2proxy's EXE works as no-cd crack too.

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.
You can now see fine emulator settings for SH1 in the guide. You may also try the newer PGXP emulator for wobble-free PS1 graphics.

>>376930423
>>376930469
PS2 emulation is from ass and requires notably stronger PC to even get decent performance.

Not to mention literally unpacking ONE (1) zip file to the games' root folders is too much work for you... then you can just neck yourself.
>>
>>376929778
You are so horribly wrong, it's amazing that people even can form such bullshit into full sentences.

The SH "HD" "Collection" is an abomination. Besides the performance issues and downgraded graphics, the AUDIO is the most raped. Terrible new VAs + absolutely awfully remixed and edited soundtracks + literally MISSING sound effects = not forgivable.

if you consider PCSX-2 to be anything but a total mess, you really need to get your standards checked.

Also while PS2 emulation requires at least 3ghz multicore processor to run even decently at native 480p, any PC-like object made in the past decade can easily run the SH's PC ports at HD resolutions, even with a mere Intel HD Graphics.
>>
>>376930716
shill, the infograph links to 2 youtube videos, which are 2 hours in total.

There are so many issues, not even just graphical, but also sound issues, slowdown and other shite, not even a 100.000x100.000 pixel image would be able to hold them all.

The games are basically broken. And you noticing nothing shows that you are either brain dead + have a terrible memory or you are simply a paid shill
>>
>>376930906
There weren't any noticeable performance issues, the fog and teeth eyeballs were fixed and the game is perfectly playable. It's not really a bad experience like that ingfographic implies. You can play the HD versions as your first experiences with the game just fine.

Everyone has a computer capable of running the PC ports, that are NOT butchered. And used PS2s can be found for literal pocket change if needed.

And yes, they ARE broken ports. Like literal framerate drops to single digits + random crashing broken. And lets not forget about the fucked up lighting, fog, textures and audio.

With limited exceptions---PCSX2 is objectively one of the best emulators out there (behind Dolphin and PPSSPP) with massive compatibility and tons of options.

Even my laptop from 2013 plays PCSX2 games at least 2 x native resolution with no problems. And it doesn't even have a dedicated GPU. I'm not an accuracyfag---I'm sure some shadows are slightly off in Persona 4----but getting to play every PS2 game at 720p+ and full framerate makes up for the inconsistencies.
>>
>>376933535
PCSX2 not only runs more games (due to the nature of having more available games) but also runs a larger % of its library than Dolphin(95%+ library playable compared to the 89% of Dolphin). PCSX2 also runs a higher % of games to completion or near to flawlessly than Dolphin. Considering how Dolphin counts shit like Skyward Sword, Red Steel 2(constant wii mote disconnections) and Tatsunoko vs Capcom(stuttering to the point of unplayability) as playable I wouldn't put much weight behind its lists.

PCSX2's software renderer will run some multiplat games at a higher framerate than Dolphin's hardware renderer, at the same resolutions.

Dolphin has removed multi-core support, whereas PCSX2 will support up to one less core than your CPU has.

But yeah keep crying about MGS3(which works almost perfectly now by the way). Fucking autist.

Stop trying to grasp straws, mate. They clearly state that the video was released post the last patch PS3 version got, which fixed SOME problems, but also introduced lots of BRAND NEW ones, like adding colored fog to places THEY DID NOT BELONG TO.

The aspect ratio issues, hilariously awful overlay effects on some FMVs and 2D images, performance issues and audio-rape are undeniable facts

>>376934046
So, let me break this down for you. The point of HD ports is to make the games more accessible on new platforms. If there was a PC version that ran well and was fully featured, then there was never a point for PC players to have interest in an HD port. This is why you don't go out and buy console forward-ports of games like Darksiders on the console if you have the PC version.

SO.... then if the PC audience is not to be considered, then who might these HD ports be for... people who only play console games, and maybe never even played the silent hill games? hmm, that's a possibility. we'd have to work this out with a few more replies to really solidify if there was ever any need for autists who had access to emulation and a PC version to actually purchase a HD PS3 port. Let's get started, who wants to go first?
>>
>>376934230
No. Aside from the character model stuff, that port is really nice if you don't want to mod a PS2 game.

YOU ARE RIGHT, the point of making it is not for people to play it. You are right about this point. The goal post has been moved by me, and I now see that they released a product on a system that didn't prior have the game on it because they wanted money and NOT for people to play it. sorry my b

>who might these HD ports be for
for retards like you, see this thread

what's worse is that faggots like you shill for this crap, so people will play this mess and then ask themselves what the big deal was and that those games were pretty crappy with tons of issues and laughable voice acting (because they were either forced to use the "new" or simply used the default")

It's one thing to have a few issues, like Sly Cooper trilogy or Jak & Daxter trilogy. Splinter Cell trilogy is already pretty bad, but this here is literally crap and Konami should have been sued for it.

btw. the PC ports are out of print and not available digitally, you fucking faggot.

you can pirate them, as has been established.

and really, this is the stupid fucking thing about you people, SH2 HD is not like a completely different game and anyone who finds it enjoyable to play through it will still see what was great about it. If they didn't enjoy SH2 on the PS3 they probably wouldn't give a shit about it on the PC. The problem would be with them, and not the game itself.

The thing with "HD remasters" is that people automatically assume them to be ENHANCED, improved and complete versions of the games they were made out of. Even the definitive versions to play.

SH HD Collection, however, is the polar opposite of all that. Also, you're delusional enough to believe that everyone would own a PS3, or would be willing to even get one. With the most brutal yet realistic assumption of most people having either a current-gen console and/or a PC only, the "HD collection" is no longer an option, and never was the best choice in the first place.

I don't understand why you think I suggested everyone owns a PS3 or would want one? What? I just said that if someone had a PS3 and not a PC or older consoles... I'm not advocating people to buy this thing, it is the worst way to play the game, but it's still a way to play a great game. If someone has a PS3 and no other consoles, or even a 360 and no other consoles, then they could do worse than to experience Silent Hill 2 or 3.

>>376934993
>SH2 HD is not like a completely different game
yes it is. Especially with the new crappy hollywood "acting", which is absolutely incompetently made and was only done because muh rights and muh not wanting to pay the original actors, who all did a fine job.

and then there are tons of issues. Like literally cleaned up textures. And even changes to text in the game. For SH3 the Hewlett fuck even made script changes.

It's basically like saying "watch the Psycho remake, sure the actors are different, but it's basically the same movie as the original". While it's actually not.

>you can pirate them

Switch is more powerful than the WiiU and the game clearly wasn't designed for the WiiU's hardware as the WiiU has constant frame drops compared to the switch.

FFXHD is literally Bioware tier character models. Disgusting
>>
>>376935583
The voice acting is the only truly valid point you brought up about it being different, because the slight texture differences aren't so drastic that you'd see a rainbow where rust used to be... the voice acting can be switched to the older VO anyway. The game is still SH2 and it is playable, and I can personally say there was never a single crash or 1 dip into single-digit FPS or fucked audio bugs, and the fog was there as it was in the PS2 version. So, it is really the same game but just an inferior version of it. This isn't really something you can argue.

>because the slight texture differences aren't so drastic
They changed how the game looks. It was supposed to have a dirty look, and the port-hacks literally cleaned that up.

>I can personally say there was never a single crash
You are a fucking shill and I know these kind of PS3 shills, who never ever had any crash at all and for them even Skyrim worked perfectly and had not a single issue at all.

>fucked audio bugs
because you are a shill and a fucking moron. They literally mismatched sound effects, like tons of those issues. Because the ports were based on Alpha source code. It's literally a different game.

>the same game
no, it's fucking not, you stupid retard.

They even changed the literally most important scene of the game and added a TV overlay, cutting over half of the original video out of the game.

It's basically like Mister Bean's Mona Lisa. Like pic.

Runs Wii games at 4K when the Wii was still a semi-viable system. That's god-tier, anon.

>inb4 some cherry nitpick about a specific game
It plays the definitive games (i.e. all 1st party Nintendo games) at full framerate at 720p even on my semi-toaster laptop. My main rig (i7 +1080) runs them 4k+ no problems.

And it still runs GC games like shit and has constant stuttering issues that require an unofficial modified build to partially fix.

Except Skyward Sword am I right? Even Twilight Princess still has issues.

Not to mention that the shader stuttering STILL isn't fixed and that effects most games.

-you praise the HD Collection, and said it worked fine on your PS3.
-you claim it to be a easier to access way to play the games.
-you seem to think that the HD collection is readily still available.
-you fail to see that PS3 owners are already a minority.
