Got my PS4 copy early (godbless Gamestop for once) and its waaaaay better then Lords of the Fallen which I rate 65/100. Normal trash mob encounters are way more difficult then in Dark Souls (only played Ds1, Ds3 & BB). Crafting is motivating, the targeting for your armor and weapon drop is cool. The 3rd energy bar is a great addition. The combo system from Lotf is also back which I missed in Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 after playing Lotf.

I think this is misleading. Just because its so seamless and all part of the factory doesnt mean there arent areas.

For instance I dont consider the lower burg part of the upper burg in das1 just because how close they are physically and how similar they are. Same goes for the upper burg and the parish.
All 3 are fundamentally the undead burg with similar enemies just slightly mixed up.

All my footage is what I've been using for review purposes, but I'm enjoying it because;

there's some nice movement mechanics; dashes, jumps, ducks, etc.

the 'slow' swings (any faster and they'd look ridiculous imo) are very well animated and have a nice landing crunch to them, imo disable the slow-mo effect (nice touch this is an option)

the way it does deviate from souls, it does it in interesting ways-- the way you 'level up' (plug in chips that basically allow you to tailor how you wanna play), targeting limbs for loot give more cannonfodder enemies meaning, etc.

The setting drapes are changed for a sci-fi experience, so that will be interesting to see.

What a coincidence, I loved Vagrant Story. It was ATB based game though, it's gameplay is nothing like Dark Souls, but it's setting and item lore setup, are very similar. The Surge however has very similar gameplay to a Souls game however, thus the comparisons, and the note of new additions to the Souls formula of gameplay, even if those new additions are concepts that are old, they're new to the Souls gameplay formula.
