I think I will wait a few months and try and get this game when it goes on sale, on PS4. I don't really want to pay full price for a game I am not sure I will enjoy.

I don't like Tekken. Never have. The only reasons I own 1, 2, and 3 are because a friend forgot I had it or it was given to me when friends were getting rid of their collections. I have attachments to a few characters but not enough to really make me get into the series.

Dedicated fan base is one thing when in the general public consciousness it isn't a thing. Fighters aren't as popular as they were amongst normies like back in the day. Hell, even if EVO was the largest it has ever been last year, it still is a niche genre overall.

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

These fuckers care about single player modes that they only play once then drop the game in month, they got to SCV, saw barely any SP features, and declared it a garbage game. GIs are too fucking good meterless and you would realize that if you had the reactions to use them throughout a round. They kill neutral play, and were the single biggest thing holding SCII back as a serious competitive game. It's an even easier 3S parry, but if people could repeatedly parry each other back ad nauseam. Meters added variety and depth to each character, especially those who have trouble extending combos or characters that have trouble starting offense. Meters brought the balance closer together. Supers were a reward for forgoing al of these features and outplaying your opponent while actively sacrificing tools. This is how meters work in everything, and it's always been a net positive.
