No open world pvp, no tight server community, no more being social and grouping up in Ironforge or Stormwind to ride all the way to Diremaul or Scholomance.
No more actually exploring the whole map, no more 40 man raids, no more real sense of achievement, just "muh parses bro check out my parse".

Dungeon finder, the way raids work now, cross-realm stuff and so on, all of it killed the game.

Legion at launch actually helped a little in the Open PvP department with easily contestable world objectives and even the occasional World PvP mission.

Leveling was a lot of fun back then, really, starting fresh and then bringing your character all the way to 60 was great.

I finally quit after playing for 10 years (TBC to Legion). I've quit a few times before in wotlk, cata, mop and wod but this time its likely permanent.

The game is pure cancer now - there's no exploration, pvp is a shitshow and what the fuck is the point in pve now that item level means nothing due to titanforging? The only sense of accomplishment I had was killing Helya on mythic before she was nerfed in 7.1.5, but there was no sense of actual character progression compared to wotlk where I could rape people in pvp with the gear I got from ICC 25 HC.

Then you also have the problem where ilvl is so irrelevant in pve because you can get it anywhere, it has 0 impact in pvp because they fucking normalise all of your stats in instanced pvp, meaning world pvp is an unbalanced mess because they only 'balance' for instanced pvp.

To be honest the point of 40man raids was that every class had to be present and bosses had gimmicks requiring certain class abilities. Lazy way out was hunter Tranq shot, good way to implement this was Priest MC tanking on Razuvious, or Warlock tanks on Leotheras. They should've given dual/triple specs right away and give MORE unique abilities to the classes to create more interesting encounters and different playstiles. Mage has 3 fucking trees with a single purpose of doing damage. Arcane went from dedicated gimmick tree to "different elemental damage". DK went from "all 3 trees could do everything with a different playstyle" to the garbage we have now with dedicated tanking, dps and pvp trees. The fact that you can't combo your talents into multiple trees killed many fun specs like Shockadin, Restokin, SL/SL lock or BM/MM hunter and more alternative specs that we never saw due to Blizzard's silly streamlining. Just the fact that we could've had a caster Paladin at the beginning of Cata with a bit of finetuning as an alternative Holy spec brought me joy, but then they absolutely killed it in patch 4.0.6, along with more changes.
