daily reminder that divine divinity is the best rpg ever created

Haven't played so I can't dispute.
But I can say that the title is awful.
>>376904982
it refers to a part in the game where you get JUSTed by a child who refers himself to a divine divinity.

Who's composing D:OS2, anyway? I hope the OST is at least half as good as the old ones.
>>376904915
It's okay but the post-timeskip areas are awful and it's way too fucking easy to straight up accidentally break quests.
>>376904982
They were pressured into it for some reason, the devs would agree.
As someone who has never played it before 2 questions.
1.) Is it similar to D2?
2.) Is it hard to get past the graphics?
>>376906701
D2 as in Divinity 2? Not really. D2 as in Diablo 2? Yes.
And no, it's all pre-rendered sprites and looks fine. Apart from the post-timeskip areas, they look fucking awful, but that's right at the very end.

I'm gonna give it a try!
>>376904915
it was pretty good, yes
>>376906701
It was extrimely hilarious and very light-hearted, but could get serious when shit went down
All in all, a good vidya represntation of what a very good D&D campaign would (and should) be like

Good luck, anon, I hope you enjoy it!
Divine Divinity is a really good game, planescape blows it out of the water, though.
>>376904915
Was Divine Divinity the RPG that had a homage to Diablo by recreating Tristram? I can't remember which RPG did that.
The only thing I really remember from DD was using an exploit to dupe mechanical scorpions and filling the entire map with them.

What?
>>376904915
it's great the first time through but has absolutely no replay value, knowing everything that happens totally ruins the game
it also has the gayest title.
I've heard so much great stuff about it, but I got really fucking tired of it and gave it up right after getting the fortress. I also generally find hack n slash games slightly monotonous.
The music is great though, I've used it in Morrowind before.
>>376904915
Played it after finishing D:OS. It was a great game, yeah. Gonna play Beyond Divinity next.
>>376904915
I enjoyed D:OS a lot more. DD's ARPG combat is all over the place in difficulty.
>>376904915
>mfw courting that elven beauty
>>376904915
this game's combat should have been turn-based (or at least have the option). Having to press CTRL to lock onto nearest enemy and hold down M1 is retarded.
The game's lore and item system has so much depth and variety, and then the combat shits the bed. It almost feels like they wanted to make this a turn-based game and then changed their minds because action-style combat games were the biggest rage at the time
>>376911375
That's literally what they did. Their publisher forced them into making an ARPG instead of what they originally wanted to do.
>>376911506
it definitely feels like it with the level designs, having to kite enemies in a circle nonstop in cramped underground spaces didn't feel really thought out
>>376911375
>this game's combat should have been turn-based
No. Fuck no. Just no. I'm firmly on the TB side of the great TB vs RTwP divide, but when it comes to TB vs RT it depends on the game. And with DivDiv the (pseudo-)RT(wP) is just perfect. It's like you don't enjoy Benny Hill chases around the map with hundreds of enemies following you and more joining in every second.

That reminds me of when you first use the pyramid thing to warp, and end up in a tomb surrounded by skeleton warriors swarming around you.

The naming of this series is such a fantastic clusterfuck I can't help but love it. Suits Larian so well.
Divine Divinity (Divinity 1)
Beyond Divinity (Divinity 2, direct sequel to Divine)
Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga (Divinity 3, direct sequel to Beyond)
Divinity: Dragon Commander (spin-off, chronologically first)
Divinity: Original Sin (Divinity 4, chronologically between DC and Divine)
Divinity: Original Sin 2 (Divinity 5, direct sequel to Beyond and prequel to Div2)
Beautiful.
