Calling the enemy placement bad is one thing, calling the enemy placement lazy is bullshit. The enemy placement in DS2 is aimed at fucking you over at every turn and forcing you to constantly fight multiple enemies, which is great, as fighting multiple enemies is the only way you can make a Souls game at least somewhat challenging.

The DLCs are even better at this. That one room in the Brume Tower where you fall down a hatch and have to fight 4 ash skeletons buffed by an ash idol AND a fucking giant was a masterstroke, a prime example of how to inflict anal devastation upon the player. Picrelated pretty much describes my feelings the first time I fell down there and realized what's going to happen next.

I just felt that the enemy placement was lazy in ds2 like an intern just copypasted enemies on to maps, and it felt jarring coming from the deliberate enemy placements in ds1. No thought was put into them other than to be "hard", and they never were because it's always just a bunch of trash mobs. It didn't feel satisfying to clear groups of enemies in that game at all.

I dont have to apoligize for anything because Dark Souls 2 was, is, and will be my favourite game in the series. Sorry I am not a part of this huge echochamber because some fucks think that adding one stat breaks the whole game, fighting multiple enemies is bad and dudes in armor are bad design Just because.
I like the game, it has good mechanics, tons of replay potential and the whole Quest of becoming the immortal undead is grander than anything in the series apart from the Bloodborne experience. Too bad I dont like Bloodborne mechanicwise.

DaS2 isn't really that full of dick moves that you absolutely can't see coming (as far as I can remember) and you had to use a fragrant branch of yore to get that key and those aren't exactly peanuts in the base game.

Also get fucking good, 2v1 fights in souls games are always going to be harder because they do more than just make you memorize timings and instead you also have to have spatial awareness.

easy anon, psychology. Same happened with friede, the first moment I realized that there is a second form, I tried to play it so, that I kill her fast and without using estus. Then be more cautious and shit during the second phase.

I think the three healthbars thing is actually more satisfying to beat. You get all the way along the first form making sloppy mistakes but chugging it away and getting greedy because you can SEE that the boss has no health left and you have superior heal economy
Then they change forms and you realize that you were fighting badly the entire time.

Also what do you mean half the bosses, Sully's "2v1" doesn't count, that was basically just an attack multiplier and made the fight actually easier. Several fights with multiple assailants don't even count, in fact.

Das3 is best PvE for me, if only because of the combat being so much more fluid. Going back to DaS1 from 3 is a huge downgrade, even the rolling works better and in all directions.

But even if you gave the overall PvE to DaS1, you would have to give best bosses to DaS3 at least. And best bosses beat best PvP in my book.

Every boss attacks in a predictable boring pattern and rhythm and there's no boss in DS2 that has a moveset even half as creative as O&S, Orphan of Kos, or Nameless King. Even Fume Knight was a fucking disappointment and I hear DS2 apologists brag about him all the time.

SotFS does have some pretty creative NPC invaders, though.

Your attacks didn't have the same weight as the other games, I think it's because the animations where motion captured rather than made frame by frame. The attacks just feel kind of floaty, made worse by your weapon always bouncing off the walls, and the enemies attack hitboxes being wonky as fuck. She summons Velstadt (Fuck you by the way for actually making me think about what his name really was for a solid 10 seconds) and it's a decent fight because you already should have all of his patterns in your head so you know what his openings are but have to use them in a new way but then also have to think about how the queen being there might cover for his openings even if you focus Velstadt down first.

Every fucking hit staggers unless you are in the middle of an attack with a weapon that has hyperarmor.

You can be in full Havel's and a hollow with a broken straight sword will still interrupt you.

The only good souls game was DaS1 and that shit was still plagued with inconsistent mechanics. Fuck From Software and fuck Miyazaki. At least the lore is cool.

In my experience, backstabs were what made slower weapons shit tier. In the time you spent doing a single light attack you were exposed and it was performed instantly, leaving you no chance to escape and losing huge chunks of health every time.
Plus WoG spammers and the fucking pursuers and dark magic in general.

At least DaS2 fixed the backstab issue, but that game is objectively uninspired and boring.

I just realized that it might not matter anyway since tombstones let you summon NPCs though I'm not sure if you can use Ornifex in the same capacity if you kill her right out of the gate and then just use her tombstone to summon her since she only offers weaponsmithing after she moves I think.

Backstabs made damn near everything worthless in high level play but poise removed the reason to play with anything but fast as shit weapons with good critical multipliers. Dark Souls 1 pvp is more varied than 3 but it's also fundamentally broken and basically a mass of bugs and exploits whose high level play is how many exploits you can pull off.

I agree, but I'm still not getting why poise encourages using fast weapons with high crit damage.
I thought the point of the mechanic (if well implemented, kek) was to specificly counter those weapons and allow for using larger, slower weapons...
You know, theoretically you using a katana against me using full havel's would be uneffective because you wouldn't stagger me and I would have room to counter.

The problem being that the large weapons cannot be used alongside high weight armor. You can wear havels, but anything heavier than a rapier will sent you fatrolling. I think the DS3 way where poise augments hyper armor inherent to weapon types is the best possible way.

There are poise breakpoints for each weapon to absorb an attack. Greatswords will shred any weapon you try to use when you are naked, and you'll only be able to tank a straight sword with an ultragreat probably. Like I've stacked up 38 poise to use my halberd so I can trade with every fast weapon in the game.

Fatrolling means your opponent gets free hits on a helpless mid-roll fatty. I think they count against poise too.
