first game is an extended prologue
third game is laughably generic and bland
second game is one of the greatest fucking JRPGs I've ever played, holy shit that fucking plot made FFVII look like teletubbies and the localization is top notch

A friend of mine got it for a few bucks and we played it. It's really fun to play in co-op. I can only recommend it to you to play it that way. Just make sure you stick together because we often got fucked by blocking the movement of each other.
