There isn't a single game i can think of that's grown after release, like how WoW went from 500.000 at release, to 12.000.000 in 2010.

I think this will be the next crash in the games industry will be a crash in preorders and on-launch sales.

Overwatch is "dying" because anything "fun" gets nerfed just like in all of Blizzards other games.

So when the meta reaches a point where strategy is king, they nerf everything so dumb morons all have a chance. Ultimately the game will swindle into blandness as all characters are balanced into a grey mush and the only interesting thing going on in the game is new characters and maps released on events.

Why even play if you're not pro level ? The game itself is not fun, ranked is just a carrot in a stick mechanic so players will focus on the points and ignore the gameplay, but when you put aside the carrot and look around yourself, there is no entertaining gameplay around to be seen.

Yes but at the same time no. The "long time" player that play daily are dropping but each event normally brings everyone back.

People are upset over two main points that I see. The developers "vision" for each character and lack of substantial new content. The new content problem is why everyone comes back for the events because there is new fucking content. But because its not permanent and its hard as fuck to get the skins you want they drop mid way through or right after because there is nothing new in the main game. We need about one new map a month to keep these people around.

Then there is the developers "vision" for each hero. They balance and tweak heros based on how they think they should be used NOT how the community wants to use them. If a viable way to use a hero is found that the developers did not intend they are very quick to shut that shit down. If a hero just is not effectual they say things like "The players just haven't found the RIGHT way to play X." Because they have very specific ideas about what each hero should do and how they should be played. Take Reaper. The community wants him to be a tank buster that gets into an odd angle drops in busts the tank then gets out. The devs do not. The devs want Reaper to be an ambush hero. You find a corner hide behind it wait for an enemy to run by shoot them then wraith away to a different corner to wait again. They primarily want him to deny reinforcements and mainly go after squishy's with these tactics. Their vision for Bastion is also really contrary to what most players like to play. They want Bastion to CONSTANTLY be switching in and out of sentry mode. They do not want bastion players just sitting there watching a choke or hallway. They want him very mobile always moving ONLY dropping into sentry mode to bust a tank or shield. They want 90% of his fighting to be in recon mode. Their changes reflect this as well.

The lack of content and antiplayerbase is causing burnout in players.

I quit playing it when ranked matches became 90% zero-skill tripletank shit where you throw your ball of tanks at the enemy ball of tanks and whoever presses Q the hardest wins

All this "forced teamplay moba class-based loot" BULLSHIT has to die ASAP.

It's not dying in the sense that you'll probably be able to find a game for a long time. Matchmaking takes a long fucking time sometimes but I imagine that's more just Blizzard incompetence rather than the thing having the playerbase of some niche early access thing on Steam.

Feeding people gacha boxes for their waifu costumes is going to keep the playerbase up, and a multiplayer game is only worth as much as its player population.

I think also being on console will help its longevity to an extent too.

That said, I doubt its numbers are even on par with CS:GO. But then again, pretty much every FPS is small compared to Counter-Strike's incarnations.

But Blizzard is being very careful with its numbers, choosing to release unique player milestones rather than solid consistent stuff like Steam data.

That's not really anything impressive to brag about. They're running a free month in China. You're loaning the game out for free in the most populated country in the world. Of course you're gonna easily hit 40 million or whatever in comfortable time.

They probably don't want a repeat of when they released SC2 data.

Beyond that, the recent fiasco with their attempts to push and control professional league-level play is really shooting the game in the foot, on top of their general incompetence at balancing the game, and the low skill ceiling and diminishing returns beyond a certain skill threshold.

I don't want to play Overwatch anymore. The game is just boring with the same maps and the same heroes. And the "story mode" was so bad that after you did it two times you already felt that it is completely repetitive. Include the 50/50 match making and you won't have fun after 30 hours anymore.

I just tried playing qp without really caring. I picked the hero I wanted and just played. After this I can 100 % say that the games are rigged. I played in all games the same and the win rate was around 50/50. Hell, sometimes I was impressed how hard the game rigged the game that I was matched against literally retards to get my win for the forced 50/50.


The only reason to play Overwatch is if you REALLY and I mean REALLY want to play a hero shooter. Hero shooter are shit and if you have such a shit taste then do it...
