300 hours of autism fun.
0 milliseconds of regrets.

Remember to opt into .15 experimental versions in steam, right click factorio -> propeties -> betas
If you don't your game will remain old and ugly and the new updates are really really good.

This looks interesting, what is it about?

>paying for early access.

I agree this looks interesting as fuck, but man...

A top-down survival kind of game where you gather resources and build stuff, with a HEAVY focus on automation. All of your autism will be spent on figuring out how to set up and refine your increasingly more complex machinery.

>>376898332
The game honestly doesn't feel like early access, but that's up to you.
>>
>>376898690
It's not a survival game.
>>
>>376898332
It's supposed to be coming out this year, but it's only in early access because they keep adding small but incredibly useful mechanics. It's a factory game, they need to keep adding things until it's complete. Right now it feels like a completely finished game (especially since .15 just came out).

Just try the demo on the website and see what you think.

It's a survival game

You're a guy on a randomly generated planet and build machine as part of a factory-base to build more machines and survive against weird organic aliens who multiply in numbers the more you harm the planet. Resources are mined from the ground and deplete so in order to grow your base you have to grow your logistics network and make sure it's safe and secure by placing automated turrets and tons of wires and such. Everything needs to be powered and the power needs to be generated (and stored) so there's more logistics involved.

It's being developed very slowly though so what you see is what you get. There's a demo or you can just pirate it somewhere, I guess - it's not overly big.
Gameplay is fun and interesting until you've build your first major base and figured out how to optimize everything. I believe the "goal" of the game is to build a rocket to leave the planet of some sort but don't quote me on that, I haven't touched the game in over a year and the rocket part is "new".

How is everyone liking 0.15? Sucks that they scrapped dirty mining; mining productivity research is kind of dull, I'll probably still mostly play with some kind of infinite ores.

I just started a 3-player game with my friends, and it's so fucking good.
I got it way back in the day, before it was out on steam, and I loved it then.
Honestly, this is one of my top played games of all time, right next to terraria.

I hate that they changed the requirement for robots.
Now robots are so fucking hard to get, that you might as well avoid getting them since you've passed the time that they are useful.

Arguably one of the best games of a decade, if you are into that sort of thing.
You are up for about 20 hours of gradual learning of increasingly more intricate gameplay systems, another 20 hours of mastering them, then potential another 200+ hours of aditional fun if you just like to further expand and improve on your builds, or just decide to tackle some of the more extensive mods.

It's also dangerously addictive. Seriously, it's insane.

It's also really good in coop too.

Also, people like to throw the word "autism" around a lot, but it's not that at all. It's complex and absorbing, but it's not some kind of insane game for people who don't mind repetition.

>>376901056
None. The whole setup is completely nonsensical, or at least extremely inefficient: it's just there to look good for promo shot.

>>376901362
Robots are always useful.

>>376899063
The price is pretty reasonable considering just how much content the game has, even vanilla. I don't think the devs are right in thinking sales would play against them in the long run, but I can assure you that the price is not steep: Factorio is a game that you'll either like, or not, but it's DEFINITELY not a throw away title. If you buy it and you are the kind of person who can enjoy it, it will suck away at least 30-60 hours of your life, potentially hundreds upon hundreds of them with mods or if you get into some of the more advanced mechanics and projects.

It looks somewhat sparse, but it really is an intricate and complex game with a lot of content: and given it's nature, it's also a small technical miracle. I think the price is pretty fair for that.

I would advice playing the demo or pirating it before buying so that you know it's a game for you. But the price is definitely not steep for a game of this kind, if you are looking for this kind of game.

Requester chest research is a bit harsh robots are too easy any way.
Speaking of which, this is the monstrosity I had to make before I got requester chests.
