There's never any reason to grind in the game unless you're playing on merciless. The enemies give more than enough exp and if you so choose you could ignore most of them and get most exp from the bosses plus momentos contracts and still be properly leveled.

Stop being retarded, that's only the case if you switch to Merciless after playing on the other difficulties. If you do an actual playthrough on Merciless you will be so severely underleveled you need any edge you can get, never even fucking mind that you can't crit or exploit weaknesses on bosses so it literally doesn't matter there.
I played through Merciless normally without really grinding at all and I was only 48 when I got to Yaldie. Didn't really see any way to beat him at that level so I grinded for an hour and a half to get up to 51 and break the fusion limit.

Did you beat merc madarame without rampage and Yusuke's vicious strike? (or whatever his multi hit phys skill is). Seems to me you'd have to be at the very least 16 to get anything with a multi hit phys skill, but you'd be 12-14 if you go at Madarame right away.

Not him but while you're right about some bosses, Merciless makes random encounters a joke until lategame
Ambush is too good and weakness or lucky punch destroy everything instantly
No crits on bosses just means more grinding which x3 makes less of a chore at the start

All random encounters except for Berith's at the beginning are a joke, and that's because you're likely too underleveled to get Silky who has bufu. Anything that doesn't have a weakness you can just put to sleep, wait for their turn, then smack em for a technical for triple damage.
As for bosses, being underleveled isn't that big a deal (unless it's Madarame, then he'll shit on you if you don't have rampage). Kaneshiro, Wakaba, Okumura and Sae were pretty straight forward.
Can't say much about anything after that since I wanted to shit on Goro and grinded to 51 to finish the twins confidant.
