>>
>>376894471
yes but you don't understand shit. it's like watching fury road without watching mad max trilogy.
>>
Sure. You won't understand shit though. You should read the books, honestly.
>>
nigga dont pirate this masterpiece
>>
>>376894471
it's worth buying, too.

How so? Fury Road is independent and not related to the trilogy
>>
>>376894471
Just buy it you degenerate. Its the best rpg in years
>>
I bought it when it released, never read the books or played the other games, and I still really enjoyed it. Do it, OP, its breddy gud

Loads of bullshit I only played like 15 min of w2 which I didn't liked, before I started playing w3 and I understood everything in the story

It's not even worth pirating even if you played the previous two
>>

This is exactly why you should pirate this overrated to some excent game and only buy if u liked it

good analogy cus you can still tremendously enjoy witcher 3 without playing the other 2
>>

Muh Radovid

Literally who cares about dead fucker or dragon bitch which wasn't even in w3
>>
>>376895115

Nigger the first thing that happens in the Witcher III is Geralt goes looking for Yennefer. I assume that if you haven't read the books or played the earlier games, you have no fucking clue who Yennefer is or why you'd be trying to find her. Sure, you can eventually learn who Yen is through context, but you will never truly understand her character or Geralt's relationship to her.
>>
>>376894719

Should I buy it from GOG then?

It's one of the best game experiences ever made, it's worth it to play one decent but aging game, and one good game, to make it even better.
>>
I want to reade the novels but I've never been in the know about pirating epubs. Can an anon help me out?
>>
Witcher 3 is more reliant on you having read the source material than Witcher 1 or Witcher 2 were. CDred actually did the same thing japanese devs do where it's a multimedia franchise and a lot of the story is outside of the game.

The Wild Hunt are just a bunch of magic elfs wearing skull armor without the novels contextualizing them; Gorrolt meets a lot of guys who are like "who dat?" without knowing who they were from the books.

Still Witcher 3 blew the fuck out of both bioware and bethesda games simultaneously, though, so it's worthwhile.

Tell me fag, when was the last time you had an actual engaging quest?

Remember when you went to one island discovering a survivor who's held hostage to build a boat for the giant to sail forth to fight at Ragnarok? Or the cursed werewolf that came back everytime you killed him? Or that time you accepted that request to kill a Leshen only to find everyone slaughtered. As you investigated you discovered that they weren't killed by monsters but by a swordsman who only spared a little girl. Once you tracked him down with your "batman" senses you found out that he's a Witcher that the villagers tried to scam and kill. Luring him into a barn and then driving a pitchfork into his back, after which he lost is temper and killed the villagers. And its up to you to let him go or kill him?
Remember this? No you don't. Because all you're doing is completing a basic "get the sword" fetch quest with no interesting qualities to it whatsoever. I tell you once again, no matter how many ways you have to complete them, it wont make your shitty G2 quests more interesting.

Also, you made a good point
>"hrmmm this looks like drowned tracks"
Even the shittiest basic quests in TW have more attention to detail than the boring shit with playmobil aestethics you sperg out over.
>>
>>376898412
Not him, but while Gothic games never clicked with me, I definitely respect the amount of "openess" they have. This meme sword quest is a good example, but not the only one. Like in G1 you have this city(the first one in the game) in which guards regularly take protection money from people and indeed, soon after you arrive a guard appears and wants protection money from you. You have few ways to get around it, but he will return regularly and you have to either give him money or steer clear of the city, because early game he will totally fuck your shit up if you won't pay up. When I tried G2, I remember accidentally stealing some hammer or something like that from a house, it's owner started screaming and I just ran away. When I returned to the town the guards wouldn't let me in, because I broke the law. In most games it would be just a matter of paying them off or they would give up after I ran away, but not here. Now, I know many people would scream "shit game design", but it's actually pretty nice and realistic, it's dealing with consequences of your actions and it makes the game feel much more natural than mechanical.

Gothic's simulationism has yet to be outdone in this style of game

DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE IN THIS THREAD, YOU HAVE TO PLAY THEM IN ORDER.

TW1, comfiest fucking shit ever. Go around collecting cards of nekkid women, solving mysteries as medieval batman with medieval sherlock holmes, sneak into young girl's houses at night and steal granny's pickles and lard.

TW2 even comfier than TW1, once you get past the first 50 hours of getting acclimatized to the game. Flotsam so fucking comfy. Vergen so fucking comfy. Best plot out of the three games.

TW3 not comfy like the other two but better in virtually every other aspect.

>>
>>376900204
>the first 50 hours of getting acclimatized to the game
What the fuck anon, the whole game isn't that long.
Other than that I mostly agree, although W1 is THE comfiest one, other ones don't stand close. In general:
W1:Amazing atmosphere, very good story and writing, weird and unsatisfying combat system
W2:Great story, some very good quests and very meaningful choices, half of the game is completely different depending on them. Combat is meh
W3:Good combat, great atmosphere, good story and writing, although not as good as in previous ones and obviously it's MUCH bigger in every aspect
>>
>>376899591
I cannot agree with this. I had to take a 2 day break from witcher 1 because i got so fucking mad about the disgustingly bad combat system. Granted i played it with hardest difficulty but still after returning from lakeside the games enjoyment takes a gigantic nosedive through the bottom of the barrel. Multitarget battles (especially if friendly NPC's are involved) are so incredibly frustrating and full of targeting bugs and combobreaking gliches and model collision problems that it absolutely ruins the gameplay.

And mind you that i have very low standards when it comes to combat in story-driven games. As long as it works on some level its usually good enough for me, but i do want to be challenged if possible.

Otherwise 8.5/10 game that gets brought down to 7 due to extremely bad combat system.
>>
>>376897645
>Hadn't truly enjoyed or been immersed in a game that much for years

I still feel bad about the Lambert quest in which I fucked over a friend and let a slave trader go. And the Internet's filled with people who feel similarly about falling for the red herring and letting the Concerned Citizen off the hook. These are fictional characters in fictional situations but the Witcher 3 regularly makes people feel guilty about the moral choices they make within its world. That's some impressive immersion.

I never understand why do people think that. Witcher 1 was quite different than other ones and the combat system indeed was shitty, so while it is my favourite game of the franchise I can understand why some people may not like it. But Witcher 2? The gameplay is literally almost identical to W3 but without open world(which, although nice, was largely filled with repetitive content anyway), and instead you have a far superior story. How come some people love W3 but shit on W2?
