Friendly reminder that Metroid Prime Trilogy has missing graphical effects from the GameCube versions to save space.

Dolphin is fucking bonkers with this game.

I had to DOWNclock the emulator down to 45% and ENABLE MSAAx8 to run at 60 or so frames per second.

If I dare run it at 100% clock speed without MSAA it´s slow as shit. I just dont understand.

This is saddening but honestly I still somewhat prefer the Wii versions due to pointer precision on top of some of the fixes and elements the US GC version lacked, like the Flaahgra music

Basically a few lower quality textures and particle beams are missing.

You're also forced to use the Wii Remote. While it has faster and overall better aiming, it's not as responsive or precise as a GameCube controller, and has input lag due to being wireless.

It's also slightly blurrier since the Wii's video signal output isn't as sharp as the GameCube's, at least with component cables.

Oh, and apparently a lot of sequence breaking glitches and cool glitches in general were changed.

A lot of things were altered, added and removed, which fans of the original GameCube version may or may not like.

I just remembered I still have this steelbook and shrinkwrapped in perfect condition somewhere in my closet.

Is it worth anything?
>>
>>376869320
I love Prime 1 and 2, but I just could not stand playing these games with the wii-mote. Holding my arm up all the time just to see where I'm going is fucking hell. I really wish they added controller support to this.

yeah, at least a couple hundred dollars

>i can't enjoy a game if it doesn't tell me I'm levelling up!

fucking hate modern gamers. go play cookie clicker if you want to be rewarded
>>
>>376869594
friendly reminder that widescreen mode alone makes up for those 3 or 4 missing effects, and it's because of the movement of the arm cannon breaking said effects, which is worth it to get free aiming
>>
>>376870663
This is true, I recently replayed the trilogy and intentionally played the gamecube version because I wanted to sequence break it like crazy

The level design in Prime 3 makes zero sense and it sucks to see that be the biggest praise the game gets. It's cool to see cities in skies, sure, but why it (and so many other places in the Prime games) it includes so many features that only a morphball user can access is so awful.
>>
>>376870663
A lot of the lore scans were different in MP1 as well for some reason
>>
>>376869320
Yeah you're right. It's garbage. Say, since you don't want it, I'll take that off your hands for you.

Does anyone know if this is different with the Wii U eShop version? The Wii U uses HDMI, so would it appear better, right?

Not really.

Yeah, you right. I suppose Metroid was never that good.

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again: There was never anything wrong with metroid prime's game cube controls.

I'm going to chime in and say that it's worth it to play both versions of the game. I prefer the GameCube version because that's what I originally played and it has that nostalgia effect for me. But the Wii version also adds and fixes things, while removing others. I'd say play the GameCube version for the original experience that everyone else had 15-16 years ago. Then play the Wii version for the different controls, fixed music, wide screen, etc. Don't let the removed things turn you down from it. I think they're bother very unique experiences. As I said, I still prefer the GameCube version, although the looping Flaagrah music is a bit disappointing. Of course, no one really knew the music was bugged back then anyway, so my first few times playing the game weren't soiled with that knowledge.
>>
>>376872003
I agree, but FPS people can't into any control scheme that doesn't involve a mouse and keyboard.
>>
>>376872148
the emulated version plays really well with M+KB
>>
I vastly prefer wiimote controls of the trillogy to GC. I cannot stand playing FPS on controllers. Just turn lock on to true lock on and it's great. I've also never experienced input delay. While it is a bummer to be out of things like >>376870058, it's not like the game doesn't still have atmosphere coming out it's ass.
>>
>>376870791
lean the wiimote on your lap you retard
>>
>>376872512
Kinda. I could never get the mouse to wiimote input perfect. Fine if you're just aiming, hell if you're trying to actually move around.

The Space Pirates and Galactic Federation carry large spheres with them at all times. This is explained in Prime 1.
