What makes you think this will be Mario and Zelda?

It is highly unlikely they'd be making them both Switch/3DS, and Nintendo certainly isn't putting those on PC or another console. More likely, it's something like Azure Striker 3 or another remake of a classic NES-era title.

Also Mario 3 & Zelda 1 are NES-era titles (regardless that the later is based more on Zelda:ALTTP).

The article mentions that the games IntiCreates are working on might not be Switch-exclusive. While it's possible they are developing for Switch/New 3DS, it is quite unlikely and far more probable that Inti is simply working on a different IP with the possibility of porting it.

Well, at least one of the titles might be a non-first party IP.

I just don't see any reason to think that IntiCreates is working on a Mario or Zelda title.

If Inti-Creates is actually making a Mario game I hope they let the part of the staff that designed Blaster Master Zero make instead of the staff that made Gunvolt.

It'd be really weird to have a 2d Mario game with no platforming.

Do you have a source on this no name being given the liberty to create games using Nintendo's two biggest IPs?

I mean, it sounds interesting, especially since it means a 2D Mario that isn't another NSMB rehash, but is this likely to happen? The article doesn't say the two games are Mario and Zelda.
