Which version is the best way to experience this game?
NES, duh.
The PS1 or GBA versions.
>>376847756
PS1. Fuck the GBA version.
reading 8-bit theather then pretending that is what happened
>>376847756
PS1. It fixes all of the bugs that the NES version had and you can actually see it, unlike the GBA version.

this.
if you MUST play the game, >>376848740 has it right. the load times are superfluous as the game took that long to load anyway
>>376847756
PS1
>>376847756
GBA was pretty okay when I played, I recall PSX version having weird load times, but then again it might have been FF6 and not this.
Did they ever release a PSP version?
>>376848713
>8-bit theather
God damn, I completely forgot about it.

Do the Origins remakes add anything other than updated graphics?
>>376849017
No, and that's why it's the best remake by far. It didn't fuck up the mechanics.
>>376849017
The added the ability to automatically target another enemy when the one you had targeted just died. Although, you can turn that off if you like to whiff at dead enemies.
PSP has the best versions of 1, 2 and 4.
>>376847756
romhack that keeps the visuals of the original but fixes all the bugs
>>376847756
NES sped up on an emulator. Fixes the QOL problems while keeping the jank.
>>376850357
Does such a version exist?
OP watched ProJared.
>>376850425
yes some kind anon once linked me one but I don't have it anymore. If you're lucky someone might post it.
>>376850357
>>376850670
With some searching I've found a few that claim to fix bugs and rebalance the game. Should I go for one that only claims to fix the bugs to leave the difficulty somewhat intact or would a rebalanced version be a good idea?
>>376847756
MSX
>>376847756
IOS

If you're gonna bother with the original I would just play it as is. I'm not knowledgeable about the bugs but the game is fine to play through regardless. Biggest thing for me is if you can stand your characters swinging at air if a creature dies early in the turn order after you've put all the commands in. If that sort of thing would bother you you're much better off playing one of the later versions.
>>376847756
I think it's a good idea to try out the NES version. I have a lot of nostalgia for it, but it's still good idea to see how absolutely broken and badly programmed the original was. Also because black belts were hilariously overpowered.
>>376851191
bug fixes is all you need. If you can find something that has your characters attack a new target after an enemy is defeated do that, and if there's anything out there that lets you buy more than one item at the item shop that'll save you a lot of a presses.
couldn't find a better monster chart image so here's a readable rundown

Oh man I loved the charts this game came with. Still have mine around here somewhere but its in poor shape.
>>376847756
gba version
>>376847756
The one that rips off Dungeons and Dragons
>>376849017
It added load times
>>376853904
It was only FF V and VI that had the awful load times on PSX.
