Waste of a character slot. Devs are too lazy to make characters people actually want, so they just reuse assets from the game.

Paratroopa is pretty redundant with Koopa Troopa in already, Funky was cool, but pretty unessisary compared to all the new mario characters that could be in since Wii, and ROB would be cool, but it would be weird adding him in, but getting rid of all the other 3rd parties

There's dozens of characters Nintendo can use for a roster. There's no reason other than laziness for them to pad said roster with metal, baby, and costume variants of existing characters.

This makes no sense and is not an argument at all. Why do you think there are a set number of slots? Pink Gold Peach would take almost no time to make because there's nothing new to render, you just have to draw a different texture and apply it on an existing model. If they didn't do that, that doesn't mean they would add in a unique character, they would have just done nothing.

You could remove Metal Mario, Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina from the game and you'd still probably not have enough development time to add Diddy. Diddy has his own entirely unique skeleton, as opposed to the metal characters who are quite literally metallic versions of already existing models. I don't like PGP either, I'd rather her and MM not be in the game at all, but don't think that their absence would allow for Diddy and Birdo to get in the game.

I'd rather have nothing than another Peach or Mario. Less is more. And unlike Smash, the circle is only for Mario characters regardless of the EAD characters. You only need to make a model sitting, moving its head, facial expressions, poses, and so on. Way less work than a Smash character.

Doesn't matter if it'd look like shit, they'd do it anyways like they did with SSB4. The number of characters they make has nothing to do with anything. There's no set number of characters they're trying to achieve, they only made PGP because it was easy. If they didn't make her, you can't guarantee they would spend 10x the amount of effort to make a totally unique character. Because of how easy it is to make a recolor compared to a new model, it's more likely that they thought "we can either add a recolor or fuck it and leave the roster as is".

Pink Gold Peach is distinct from Gold Peach. It could be that Peach just has a unique color from the Metal Box (and that Smash isn't "canon"). Plus, PGP doesn't have any of the powers you'd associate with the Gold Flower, while she does have the powers associated with the Metal Box.
