You could always play Golden later if you're one to replay games like this.

Golden is objectively better unless you're actually allergic to anime filler and Marie, but vanilla is fine too. The biggest bonus in Golden is the ability to choose what skills you pass on in fusion, instead of having to RNG it forever.

PSTV was gonna be my suggestion (best way to play it), so I don't really know what to suggest. Go for the PS2 version, I guess. Given that you're a slav, will you be playing it in English? If so, try to ignore Chie's voice as hard as you can and eventually you'll get used to it. Teddie too to a lesser extent. Sadly you won't get the best social link in the game (it's a Golden exclusive), but at least you'll be able to play it whatsoever.
