Because the story was artsy. That's why normies love Bioshock Infinite. Sure the plot is riddled with holes and the complexity of the previous titles is gone and the gameplay just has some really shitty design choices but the ending had a big twist, so that makes it alright. The crafting was great and made you choose between saving resources for secret doors, or using them to save your life. It encouraged scavenging and pausing in combat to craft things was a good tension builder. Shooting felt good and solid. There was nothing wrong with the actual mechanics. Hunters have varied behavior based on what weapons they use (melee, gun/shotgun, molotov). Clickers hear almost anything that is not very slow movement, runners can see you and reveal your position to clickers, bloaters are minibosses with a ranged attack. My theory

At some point in the 5 year gap between TLOU end and part 2 Ellie has a baby. One day at Tommys settlement what's left of the fireflies come and shoot up the place and kidnap the baby because they're still looking for a cure. This leads to a rescue/revenge mission from Ellie and Joel to either get the baby back and/or kill the rest of the fireflies

Designers need to overcome this by letting you outright skip these sections that offer nothing after seeing them initially.

Ellie walking through enemies and not triggering AI is bad design, period! There is no defending that, especially since RE4 handled the escort quest much better and came out years before it. They could have easily given the player commands to guide her or tell her to hide in the environment.

Anyone who brings up GOTY AWARDS AWARDS AWARDS need to realize the press plays a game ONCE, on a very surface level. Games like this are media darlings and will always get GOTY. It's a formulaic game that is easily swallowed by the masses.

I don't know whether the dude is manipulating AI logic or basically speedrunning a segment just to prove a point but I saw the difference in my "normal" gameplay through various difficulties. They shoot more at me, throw more molotovs my way, and run around me much more than on normal. Also enemies flanked you already back in Uncharted 2 and this is the same engine.

Both are the best third person shooters pretty much ever made

Uncharted 4 devs actually added a fully free survival mode, that is gameplay only and it's very fun

The level design in Uncharted 4 is also amazing in the shooting bits

No, that's wrong. There are segments where you're supposed to get into a gunfight. Not sure how many times it happens but that one time I remember was after Ellie shooting a guy and she's supposed to help you after that. When a game is cinematic it kills your options and it happens several times in the game. That's just the nature of a cinematic game, it's linear.
