Hopefully 3rd parties make better cheaper ones. I travel a lot and would like a small one for the road, but ain't no way I'm paying no $90 for that!

where?
>>
>>376818128
But it comes with the console.....
>>
>>376818128
>Controllers used to be $20
>Suddenly jumped to $50 2 generations ago, Nintendo's being the worst offenders, separating the Wiimote and nunchuck for a total of $60
>Jump to this generation, PS4 controllers are still in the $50 range
>Xbone are $60, $70 if you want a paintjob or even $150 for the Elite meme.
>Wii U tablet controller wasn't even sold, estimated to be $100+. if it was it would've probably been $150
>Somehow surprised they pull this shit again.

Faggots like you need to die. We already know birds fly and the sky is blue, you pointing it out doesn't make it some amazing discovery
>>
>>376818832
Any retailer. Nintendo has started selling docks separately, and the MSRP is 90 dollarydoos. But it's okay, it's Nintendo, the greatest company on the planet.
>>
>>376818128
You should tell people what the fuck they are looking at.
>>
>>376818949
that's not a controller u dum dum
>>

Most of that is the USB 3.0 port.
>>
>>376819076
Most of it is markup, cheap $30 cases come with usb 3.0 nowdays
>>
>>376818982

It comes with the AC adapter and an HDMI cable. They sold it for $60 without those (still too much), but now they're not even selling those anymore. Just the $90 bundles.
>>
>>376818128
>Comes with a power supply and HDMI cable that apparently kicks the price up by 50 dollars
It's a shame because people would actually buy it if it was 40 dollars.

fuck them

Think of how much money Nintendo will make. I think I'll buy one for each room, just so that Nintendo make even MORE money just to piss you off.

Based Nintendo.

Oh yeah? Well what if I want to have one in every room in my house. What then? Nintendo needs to be more considerate of their customers and not charge these items that are essential for a decent experience with their new system.

Thank you for supporting Nintendo.

Old gamepads didn't have gyros, analog sticks, triggers, touchpads blue tooth and other 'high-tech' shit.
>>
>>376820713
SNES controllers didn't even cost $15 back. Pic related.
Of course if you were to adjust that price for inflation since the 90's, it would cost a shit ton more.

You're both wrong, in a way. Adjusted for inflation these prices are almost 52% higher in 2017 dollars.
>>
ITT people that don't understand that labor and design is expensive.

Things like that get cheaper as time goes on because you don't have to pay engineers to design/improve it anymore. Right now, Nintendo needs to charge $90 so they can turn a profit from this because they probably invested a shitload of man-hours into the Switch.
>>
>>376821221
DKC3 was 1996, $15 then is around $25 now which is still a pretty good price for a controller.
>>
>>376821274
I just fucking said that yo.
>>
>>376821221
>>376821274
>a shit ton more
Not really.
https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=15&year1=199611&year2=201704

That SNES controller would still be cheaper than what the Playstation controller actually did.
>>
>>376820108
Quit sperging, they knew the dock is easy to move so they wanted lazy faggots like you to have to pay the lazy tax.
>>
>>376819456
Boy, you sure missed the point there.

The PCB size is fine. The price tag shouldn't be fuckhuge
>>
>Want a dock for my bedroom and my living room
>Felt how light and how little it was inside it, certain it would be cheap
>See the price
>Noped the fuck out
If a little extra work of moving the cords between rooms saves me $90, then this shit can rot on store shelves.
>>
>>376818949

Xbone Elite controllers are actually worth it though, it has stainless steel parts and customisable paddles and no chinisium grade polycarbs that you can find on the switch's pro controller's shell, it also has two quick access sensitivity and button map profiles. The price is a bit inflated but it is totally justified when you compare to similar product from the third party OEMs

I'm not saying it's okay. I'm saying the box was marked accordingly, so you didn't have to go home to find out there wasn't one in the box. I'm not defending them for not including it.
>>
>>376822201
Former Best Buy employee here. The price isn't just a bit inflated. Employee discount is 5% above the cost of any item that isn't price controlled by that manufacturer.

On release, those things aren't price controlled and they were available for sale to employees for 53USD. The normal controllers are for sale for 46USD.

There was a 7dollar difference in cost of production, purchasing a far smaller order and getting them to the sales floor.
>>
>>376822689

the point is that it doesn't even cross your mind that they wouldn't include something like a charger to the device you're purchasing

that's some next level jewing

like buying a TV and not getting a power cord or a remote for it or buying a car and not getting the keys for it
>>
>>376821221
The N64 was out at this point anon. This is markdown overall when it came to hardware. The games were still a bit too pricy though, but again, this is post-96.

Dunno if thats any better or worse.

does anyone actually know the costs of the parts in the other than the black plastic? Literally now need for discussion if he had that answer and saying it costs the correct amount or too much without even knowing its cost anyways is dumb af desu b
>>
>>376823039
The point is it's your fault for not being informed about what you purchase. It's a shit tactic for sure, but if your average consumer will fall for it, get a little angry, go buy a charger, and do absolutely nothing about it, why the fuck not? It's an extra trip to the store which increases your chances of buying something else because most people can't be bothered with reading the packaging of the item they are purchasing.
