Nothing. Much like Dishonored 2 it's a very decent job (aside for the shortened story).
But when you're an AAA game that costs 60 bucks, any drawback or slightly unenthusiastic word of mouth is enough to stop most players from buying your game and shit on it irrationally.
Plus, it couldn't possibly recreate the good surprise that HR was.

But it is honestly I good game that I enjoy. I finished it 5 times and I intend on playing it again this summer.

Square Enix demanding they split what should have been one or two games into three.

The story is stretched out and you're always feeling like you're just about to get into it proper, which is a shame because its otherwise a straight upgrade from Human Revolution.

>>Took me 25 hours to beat, I wouldn't consider this short, easily longer than HR.

Just because you autistically squatted in Prague it doesn't make it "longer" or better than HR.

It most likely baffling nu-DE fans as they see nothing wrong with MD but this game feels like a spin-off DLC story and not a real Deus Ex game. Everything is extremely disconnected from the main events and it feels like a prologue to the real game. And since we have no real game after MD, it's more like a spin-off to the DE story.

HR was done right because Adam was in center of very important events and could could influence them.
>>
>>376808424
The thing is I also took my time to beat it, because prague was quite comfy and well structured.

But if you ignore all the secondary missions it is indeed quite short. Storywise it feels like you accomplished 2-3 missions of the original game.
>>
>>376808525
The game is about Jim Crow or apartheid, not black lives matter. But it's a stupid analogy because augs can always have their augments removed. They chose to get augmemted, they weren't born cyborgs.

Why would you ignore game content and then bitch about length?
Quite irrational behaviour.
Why do people rush through the main story instead of enjoying the highly detailed hubs which have enviormental storytelling hidden?

It's like saying that Fallout 3 is a good game because you played it for the same amount of time or even more than Fallout 1 & 2 and because some of side quests were fine it makes a garbage main story good as well.

No it doesn't make it any good.
Deus Ex is known for some crazy conspiracies, grand schemes and huge events across the globe and JC or Adam can be a part of it, they can change it or at least try to do that.
MD does nothing of that, you were demoted to be a mere cop who investigates a terrorist act instead of investigating some Versalife, Illuminati or Majestic 12 shit.
And even then the story in MD and its characters are both dull and uninteresting.

I'm just saying that punishing someone for having artificial limbs is silly.

>Not arm, leg, lung, heart augs etc. like Jensen has. Also, why should they?

During Jim Crow, in most cases, if a black person could just stop being black, they would. But most blacks don't have that option because you had to seriously pass for white in order to do that.

In this game, you can always remove an augmented leg or arm. If you have an augmented heart, well nobody can see that, can they?

Another option would be to have augments that look like natural limbs. Like, in i-robot, will smith's character had major bionic alterations, but they looked mostly natural until he takes off his shirt and you can see his surgical scars.

A follow-up to that movie would pull off what they attempted to do in MD because the robots can't change their status as machines.

Not sure why people are salty about the single hub. It bigger and has more content than the hubs in previous games and you actually get to see how it changes over time. Its not like its worse, just different to previous games.
>>
>>376810067
The original DX had new "nanoaugmentations" that JC Denton and his brother were fitted with - these didn't deform physical appearance at all. One of the game's themes was how the UNATCO agents who were mechanically augmented (the type of augs seen in HR and MD) felt like they'd be obselete hunks of scrap metal to be replaced by people with nanoaugs. That is where the current DX games should lead, if they continue - nanoaugs. It's much more clever than the preachy, politically correct themes about social issues surrounding augs seen in MD.

>Breach mode and its microtransactions galore.
So much this.

Breach mode sucked so much life out of the main game. It wasn't even enjoyable with how hard they try to sell you on paid upgrades. The "cheats" you get by playing are weak nonsense in comparison. Then you have the bosses later on that can only be touched with shitloads of specialty ammo that you can only acquire in volume for $19.99 + tax + tip + s&h + pepperoni.

The main game had a hub and a quarter that provided most of the play with explorations. The away missions didn't amount to five hours of play or deliver much of anything in terms of story.

Honestly? It's just unfinished. Prague is a nice city hub and the side quests are great. The game also feels more enjoyable to play over Human Revolution.

Where it falls down is the main story. Every main story mission (except for Golem City) is just embarrassing to play through and half assed. You simply couldn't care less about the main story characters either. If you focus solely on the main story you can finish the game in 5 hours flat while listening to every line of dialogue related to it as well. You take your time exploring Prague and doing the side quests you'll have a better time overall.

It's a shame they didn't make Golem City into a hub as that may have actually saved the game.

Didn't think much of the music either but graphically it really excels in some areas.
>>
It was shit and had all the fun guns removed from it. Not to mention you cant even join any other faction, even fucking invisible war had more actual roleplaying.

>>
It's very forgettable
Stays too much in Prague when Deus Ex was always about traveling all over the place
Cinematic takedowns are still cancer
Every single door has a shitty hacking lock to it
Awful story and wonky racism parallel, and characters are all boring as shit
Still gives XP reward you for killing or knocking out enemies which means it punishes people who don't want to engage and just sneak past enemies
Also giving exp for hacking is still retarded, those Human Revolution series scream instant gratification really

Nevermind this game feeling unfinished shit, the part of the game that is in is hardly remarkable. Also they're writing themselves into a corner by staying with Jensen and going into Bob Page's and Manderley's story. Spoiler alert: we fucking know those guys are alive and kicking in JC's time, so at best Jensen can make them have a little setback, there's no good conclusion from staying in that story. Should've gone with new settings really, like a side story in the nanoaug era.

I think you're right from a raw gameplay perspective, because taking into account everything you can do in the game, it's not as short as it seems. That's one of the issues in both Eidos games, you pretty much get everything and have no choices to make as in do you want stronger melee attacks or being able to lift heavy objects? In HR/MD you can easily get both, even Invisible War allowed you to have more options in building your character, despite the small amount of biomods.

The main story seriously is short though. I wanted to actually see how short it was so for new game+ I just focused on the main quest as fast as possible and got the entire thing done in 1 hour and 20 minutes and it only took that long because the elevator rides, load times and unskippable cutscenes take up 30 or so minutes

There's just not enough missions to go with it

I don't disagree, but by the time I had reached the final mission I had like 60 hours in the game so I wasn't too bothered. I played it as a ghost, I RP walked everywhere and read documents and newspapers. It being my first Deus Ex I thought it a good idea to pay attention and I don't regret it. My experience was elevated as a result and I adore the game. It's a shame that Utulek wasn't made into a secondary HUB post Rucker extraction and an even greater shame that we may never see a follow up.

Clearly the game was meant to be longer with more story, the ending makes it look like they cut the story of the game in half, maybe in hopes of making Mankind divided 2
>>
Thinking anyone gives a shit about Prague.

Removing all the characters and voice actors that people grew to really like. Replacing them with utter shit.

Those two things more or less ruined my time with Mankind Divided.

You can get the deluxe edition for 20 eurobucks on psn now, never saw a recent game get such a deep discount.

Unless its an activision/nintendo title games do get steep discounts these days. Like Witcher 3 went 50% sale pretty fast as well, its normal.

Deus Ex games usually start off with a smaller scale plot involving you working for some organization and trying to deal with a terrorist cell. Then about 1/3 or halfway into the game, you unravel a larger conspiracy that has you questioning many of the people you had been working with and facing off against the Illuminatin and their interests.

MD felt like that first third or half of any other Deus Ex game. You're focused on something smaller scale--uncovering the truth behind a terrorist attack and preventing a new one from happening. But the bigger picture story playing out cocurrently was Jensen being there as a double agent to see if the taskforce was on the up and up or if it was corrupted for the Illuminati's purposes from the beginning. The whole game has an underlying subplot of Jensen investigating the taskforce and spying on them.

In any other game, that subplot would have blossomed into the main plot after the smaller scale conflict reached its boiling point. Instead, it's never resolved, despite spending a healthy amount of time towards it. Your decisions to help focus on digging into the taskforce's secrets versus being loyal to the taskforce amount to nothing. There's no real payoff in the end, because the whole taskforce plotline never gets a chance to go anywhere in the end.

One of the most telling things about MD that supports this is that the game has one single boss fight. Right when the terrorist plot reaches its climax, you finally get to the first boss encounter to cap it off. But then the game ends there, after finally reaching the first boss fight.

>it's too short.
Took me as much as HR though i was thoroughly enjoying the exploration.

It's a good game. But the story feels like it's a side quest which is a shame for a Deus Ex game.
