Which one do You prefer? Framerate or Visual fidelity? Should I play Skyrim for 60 fps or Special Edition that I can run at 40 on low?
FPS every time.
If fps means you have to play with blurry resolution then i'd go with 30 fps but sharp image.
Why can't a first person shooter have quality?

I prefer good gameplay.
I depends on the game but most of the time I prefer quality over fps since it has never bothered me at all playing at 30fps

Yeah but good gameplay at a consistent 60 fps with worse graphics than sharp 40?
I care about 60 fps and once I achieve that performance target I focus on quality e.g. if I'm getting 40 fps at ultra preset but 60 at high preset I'll change it to high and then work with each setting to maximise visual quality without getting big performance losses like changing textures back to ultra and post processing.

Fine I'll do this with Skyrim. Seems like the most logic way.
If the game has action elements, I'd prioritize frames. But in something like Soma or Talos Principle, I'll gladly supersample and play at 30fps.

depends on the game or genre, if it is action then fps, but if contrary like pure rpsrpg then quality.
had the similar problem with infamous ss, im used to game at 60 on my pc so i went to up my fps. quality is just horrid like cold molasses

FPS over fidelity. Running at 20 fps while having high levels of fidelity is painful.
