Was pic related the exact moment /v/ died?

Nope.

2012. The /vg/ split left a huge void in threads so any shitpost would survive when previously, the generals pushed a lot of shit threads down. Combined with the great mod crackdown and removal of dubs derail, consolewars, TORtanic (and wannabe), eceleb, and twitter threads increased exponentially.
Right before 2012

Post-death /v/
I can't believe people actually thought this was a dark souls 2 mod based off the webms
I mean, really? Fucking REALLY? How does anyone make the game look and play so different based off a damn mod for dark souls 2
>>376799363
This. Removing actual video game discussion to make more room for /b/-lite was a mistake.

fuck, you made me realize this is my tenth year here
That would be the Shazbowl inviting redditors.

/v/'s rotting corpse went from discussing vidya to bitching about politics
I'm still pissed we never got that shotgun in the game.

I miss the community efforts.
>2007
>memes were stupid but light hearted and fun. lots of OC
>2017
>memes are insulting and denigrating. OC mostly consists of edits of old memes or twitter/facebook/reddit/tumblr screencaps
I still don't understand what the fuck happened.

>anything that isn't shitting on someone or something else is drowned out with screams of reddit
Not really sure why I still come here.

I miss 2011/early 2012 /v/. Back then this board had stuff going on, like Ace of Spades, Synchtube and the SOPA panic.

>they still think it's some edgy final boss of the internet
I think that's the issue as well, there are too many newfriends who don't lurk. They either come here from seeing modern """news""" articles expecting some sort of vile hivemind of people constantly looking out to fucking annihilate everything and everyone or they come here from reddit to get their lol on at 4chan because of the ebin screencaps and how loads of memes have started here.
I think there's also /pol/ pulling a ton of people in from all sorts of places so they end up spilling over to all the other boards.
>>376800012

Darn neophytes can't greentext properly!
>>376800657
your post reeks of reddit syntax desu
