It's a pointless waste of resources. You're spending energy building two skeletons when, if either one of them ends up broken, you're likely to just end up dead. It is far better for a creature to develop something which will give them an advantage, rather than doubling-down on something designed to keep their muscles in place.

And speaking of that, it's the other reason you don't see anything with both an endo- and exo-skeleton. Both serve the same purpose: to give a frame for the body to hang itself onto. (Not to resist attacks, necessarily.) Nothing is going to develop a method to keep their guts aligned when they currently have one which works well.

That said, look at the pangolin if you want an animal with really tough body armor.

I played it for review and I really like it.

The only thing that kinda grated on me after 19hrs of play as that the environments are very same-y.

Although this can lead to some great level design (the whole 'world' is one big industrial factory that loops back on itself tons of times), it doesn't really feel like you're going anyway.
