Neither 2B nor A2 have as much character development as 9S and neither have a character resolution as good as 9S. The only reason why either of you like 2B or A2 is due their character design, if you switched them with a guy or an old robot you wouldn't really give a shit about them.

2B as a character only exists as a plot device for 9S and explanation why 9S goes to the length he did go. Even in the newly released side-story stuff it doesn't change since 2B is still just a plot device for 9S and his character development. The only new thing we got from the side-stories was to show how deep they cared/loved each other (which then again was overshadowed by the fact 9S made a promise with 2B to continue to kill him so they could meet again because he didn't want to lose her forever)

A2's character development is almost non-existent ingame, the most important development she had was going from "Kill all robots" to "Maybe not all robots are bad" in a matter of 5 mins when she reached Pascals Village. The only actual character development she had was in the YoRHa Stageplay where she turned from crybaby into Big Boss type of deal (minus Mercenaries)

A2 was the only likable character. 2B was basically nothing character wise and existed solely to sell copies while 9S was a terrible character and extremely obnoxious

9S has s generally the most developed character in the game.
2B and A2 are good to "look at" but that's really it, A2 is a pretty fun character with her sass but 9S in the end turned out to be the most interesting.
It honestly feel like 2B has less personality than rei ayanami, even though rei spoke a whole lot less at least everything she said had some force behind it.

That may sound silly, but i think that 2B being a "flat" character may be justified in her case and it would actually ruin the point of her character if she was anything else.

[Spoiler]For starters, she is an assassin on a top secret mission, she has to be covert and she is rather successful at it if one takes into account i have yet to find a player who figured her out before the reveal in ending C/D even with the cubic fuckton of hints the game throws at you. It would be dumb if she acted like an open book[/Spoiler]

[Spoiler]She tries to be as unemotional and cold as possible to reduce the agony she feels when she carries out her duty and her facade cracks very easily due to how broken she is inside, something the game conveys correctly without spoiling her true function[/spoiler]

And she also shows glimpses of who she really is underneath her mask, she is kind (helps Pascal, the resistance deserters and 6O without second thought)and thoughtful (Aknowledges they are not different from their "enemies" at the end of Route A and the Engels quest and 042 has her figured out because he knew that she was going to help 6O before she even asked for his advice).

My point is, 2B best grill.

I still don't fucking understand why 2B "dies" and then we take over an Android who looks identical to 2B with her memories.She also plays exactly the same except now she has 2 extra abilities.

Story wise it doesn't really add anything. A2 essentially just repeats 2Bs arc of "Maybe not all machines are bad" before eventually dying.

I think if you removed A2 from the story and just kept 2B doing her shit the game would have been fine.

Yes it's not the best, characters are shallow, at least they had some characstics like having talking about the world or about each other's personal constructional gain but there never was anything far beyond that than them getting flirted with each other. While 9s was one of the interesting characters because from his motives it's nit true. In my opinion he was really just ok as any other anime/manga characters in darkgrim world. He was programmed after a child. People who read the story board said he had a psychotic side before he got corrupted, but we got a lot characters like this it's not so unique

And the gameplay and combat could've been better, they had redemption for it in the next routes but they wasted it. While playing route C with A2 she really wasn't that unique since it just like in dmc
