Soma is a great game. Outlast 2 is just stream-bait.

Well the first step is to not ask on /v/. Everyone here has a knee-jerk hatred towards video games.

If you're looking for something immediately scary outlast 2 would probably be for you. If you want a game with a really good story try SOMA. Outlast 2's story is pretty good but SOMA's story is fantastic.

Get Soma. I liked Outlast 2 but it's more shock value than horror. Plus the game's almost as dark as Doom 3

Outlast 2 is not as comfy as outlast 1 + has a bullshit story. The setting is very good but the teleportation to illusions that you are at some school with a demon and a little girl really destroyed it. If they put all the time from that school in added real place content the game would have been much better. maybe even better than part 1 since it has a better camera + run system.

Outlast 2 is scarier as well imo

Outlast 2 is a horror game but it isn't scary either, just extremely stupid. It is way worse than the first game in every way.

I hated almost everything about RE7 except for Jack and the fact that you could actually fight back. Being totally helpless is one of the things I despise about all of these shitty first person walkaround spookers. An able bodied man in his 20s-30s getting chased around a farm by some crazy cultists (talking Outlast 2 here), doesn't have the ability to pick up a brick, pipe, piece of wood, heavy tool, ANYTHING and deck one of them? Just run and hide like a bitch I guess. Great gameplay. They're not ghosts, they're not immortal monsters, they're not invincible. I understand the devs don't want to turn the game into a stalk-and-murder-everyone game, and want to keep the tension of hiding while the badguys look through the cornfields for you. But it's just fucking stupid.
