This game really is for certain kind of people. To me it really doesnt seem to be much more than RO2 with a Vietnam paintjob, but I personally dont mind. Vietnam is my favorite setting and this hits me in some good spots. I dont know the inner workings and mechanics of RO since i havent played it in a while, but I still think its pretty good. I really havent noticed many problems with it, but I havent been looking for them either.

Because VC always spawn closer with their tunnels and even if you do take it it's nearly impossible to take any points from that position. Furthermore there are no safe LZs around it to drop reinforcements, not that you'd even be able too with the DSHK right behind it shooting anything down.

D and B on the other hand have multiple LZs and little cover for the VC to abuse. Any tunnels are easily taken out by the cobra on the flat rice paddies. Once you have B you also get access to the helipad behind it where the cobra can resupply and hueys can drop guys in.

Helicopters are absolutely essential for winning on the American side, you need all three pilots working together to be effective. Loach spots targets for the Cobra and RPGs for the Hueys. Cobra needs to blow up enemy tunnels, kill DSHKs, and clear out entrenched enemies. Hueys need to land deep in enemy territory and cut off their supply line.

The reason you can't kill things is probably because you don't have a loach pilot spotting for you. Also you should rely on your MG more, Cobra pilot gets a 50 cal and it has a small blast radius.

Every room I am in I hear some fucking grenade tumbling in.

I used to think this as well. But I have some great studio headphones and I can hear the difference between casings hitting the floor and grenade/smoke grenades being thrown.

In fact, the first thing I did was test the sound of the casings reacting to different surfaces like wood or metal.

What I am hearing with grenades and mortars is clearly a bug.

On Americans just treat radioman as a grunt who can carry smoke. Any half decent TL will get in the loach.

On VC radioman gets much more use because TLs have to get out in the field to get the most out of their abilities with ambushes defaulting to the TLs position.

If there's already a radioman with the TL it doesn't hurt to join them. TL can always use more bodyguards. If you don't want to do that go find your SL and lend him your smoke.

From personal experience it seems to be based on how long you stay airborne.

There will usually always be a Huey available but with the Cobra and Loach it seems to be a little different. If you crash right out of the heli base you will be waiting for quite a bit but if you were airborne for as long as 10 minutes you may only have to wait a few seconds for one to respawn.

If you mean the way it kind of stutters about I think that's just a bug. I just learned to kind of deal with it, takes a lot of active correction to keep it steady.

I use W/S for collective, A/D for yaw, mouse for yaw and roll, and uninverted Y axis. Basically the same controls as Battlefield 2 since that's what I got gud at flying vidya helicopters in years ago.
