It's me. I'm part of a comedy sketch channel and one of the videos we thought it would be funny for there to be a picture of me topless on a bear skin rug in front of a fireplace with roses. We found the fanciest looking frame and slapped that bitch in there.
Didn't wanna throw it away since we all thought it was a super funny prop and it would have been weird for someone else to take it so I just took it home and hung it on my wall.

To be honest if you stay out of the private/charter schools this is really unlikely. If you work in a state that has a teachers' union (which is very powerful in most places) or just a decent public school district it doesn't really happen as much as you'd think.

I did work for a year in a "right to work" state with no union or anything, and the charter school I worked for fired 8 teachers at my campus alone in one year. One teacher was a veteran of 15+ years and one snotty little cunt complained and she was canned. That's mostly because that charter school was really new and was terrified of bad press, not to mention run by a bunch of people who didn't even study education.

As for your other points, it largely depends on where you teach. I've always made good use of my prep time and the time I have before and after school, so very rarely do I get bricked with a ton of work outside of contract hours. When I do it's usually my fault for letting multiple sections of papers slip without grading them. The pay isn't all that bad for a bachelor's degree plus three months off, and it goes up every single year, even moreso if you get further degrees. I'm getting my masters this fall and that will raise my about $7k.

No worries, it's pretty common. The profession gets its name drug through the mud for a lot of reasons, but I'd say the majority of teachers enjoy their job. There are shitheads in any field of work, teaching is no different. One of my former co-workers was one of the most vapid people I've ever met, I have some horror stories about her if there's interest.

Thanks buddy, appreciate that. As for your question I don't really know, I had a lot of really good teachers growing up that made me want to get into the profession, but I know a lot of people aren't so lucky. In my experience as an adult a lot of my shittier co-workers have either been on a power trip and wanted to make their class the number one thing in kids' lives and wouldn't show them empathy or any understanding when life got in the way. That, or they were pretty dumb, which happens in every profession but when you interact with a hundred kids a day and even they can tell you're vapid it really sticks out.

I am currently in my masters class with a girl my age who cannot pass her license tests to save her life. She is an elementary teacher, and he license tests only goes up to 10th grade content, and she's still too retarded to pass. I used to work with another woman who was literally too stupid to tackle any sort of difficult text and relied on sparknotes for everything. Even the kids called her out on it and she stormed out one day. This woman also wore sweatpants and crocs multiple times a week, go figure.

Well I think the biggest part was my history teacher in 7th grade. She actually made history interesting (and it should be noted that I had already thought history was pretty interesting and always my favorite class, even with bad ones) and having dealt with a bad history teacher the following year, it kind of made me realize why so many people hate history. If you're always having to memorize irrelevant dates, it gets boring. Granted, that's just how the curriculum is taught, but if that's the entirety of your class, no one is going to enjoy the class. She still put effort into making sure that the class was enjoyable on a day-to-day basis; I knew of no students who groaned when they had her next period.

I remember she let us watch Last of the Mohicans and The Patriot (edited to be safe for 7th graders to watch) over the course of the school year. Don't even know if that was responsible or how exactly they were supposed to be relevant to the class itself, but she definitely went all out in trying to make history class not the class that you fall asleep in.

Not him but I'm pretty sure a lot of people get into the field with that reason but slowly realize that there's too much shit you as a teacher have no control over.

She sounds like a baller teacher, anon. History is by far the subject I'd like to teach if not English, just because I had good history teachers in my days as a student too. Movies area great way to get kids engaged as long as you're not doing it every single day. There are definitely days where kids need to just relax and take something in, and some of the best discussions I've had in my room stemmed from viewing a film or clip. I'm biased though as I taught a film class for three years at my old school.

>I used to work with another woman who was literally too stupid to tackle any sort of difficult text and relied on sparknotes for everything. Even the kids called her out on it and she stormed out one day. This woman also wore sweatpants and crocs multiple times a week
This sounds almost exactly like my senior English teacher.

>It just pisses me off that the specific career where you shape the next batch of people is the one that gets so many shitters
Honestly I think a big part of it is how much shit teachers have to go through. I constantly have to take continuing ed credits to renew my license, there's always changes from district to my curriculum, (some of it good, some of it questionable) all of that is outside of bullshit like standardized tests and politicians shitting on public schools/unions because they can get a nice cutback from privatizing education like they do everything else, not to mention that people are required to student teach for six months while paying tuition, which essentially becomes an unpaid "fuck you, work 50-60 hours for free" internship. I have friends in other fields of work and most of them rarely have to jump through as many hoops.

I love my job but I am not surprised at all there is a major teacher shortage in most states. The sad thing is if education was given more funding and the barrier to entry as well as salary was higher, our kids would be smarter, but that seems extremely unlikely. You should see the legislation my state is trying to pass to change who can be hired as a teacher. Terrifying stuff.

I spose that's a pretty good way to look at it

I think the school environment in general isn't for me. All the cool 50 year old teachers are retiring and getting replaced by the new generation batch. There's something pathetic about having to take orders from someone who's reason for being a teacher is literally "I couldn't figure out anything else to do"
The curriculum said teacher is teaching is being taught only because I said "I feel like I'm not learning anything at all, can we actually do something that'll prepare me for ACTs and whatnot?" Prior to that we sat around while she talked about 13 Reasons or some shit

Man it's been awhile since I ranted about school being stupid, it's kinda liberating

ive still got that cooler master case, Ive got my 10 year old kid set up on it. Case is around 15years old.

Ouch familia. I think that's a gross overstatement on your part but I won't argue there are teachers who fall into that, yeah.

If you work your way up into good districts in good states for education, this really isn't the vibe, though. Right now I have coworkers who are extremely passionate about education and their content area and it's a great place to work. I have several colleagues trained by NASA and others who work for national programs every year

Unfortunately, no. That's literally what she said when I asked one day.
On the bright side, the new band director is cool as shit. Whenever we have study hall he breaks out his wii and the whole class plays Mario Kart, party, Melee, it's great. One day we got so invested in it that he ended up staying after class playing with me and some of my friends for a good 2 hours. Teachers like him make it worth it, y'know?

I moved to a different country and haven't rebuilt my shit PC yet. But I'm thinking of buy a new PC instead. Am I able to use two graphics cards though? I have a 660Ti, but I want to buy a 1080Ti, can I use both of them some how?
I also want to finally get a watercooled PC, how many times a year do you need to change the water?
Thanks.
>>
>>376780948
I believe you can set one up as a dedicated physx card. In any other case, since the cards are not of the same design, then no. Just use the 1080ti. It's more than enough.

My bad, I thought you were talking in general terms and not about that specific teacher. This is sexist as shit but in my experiences at least half of the female teachers have been shit, while for guys I'd call 80%+ of them very good at their jobs. Small sample size from me but god damn, most of the abysmal teachers I knew have been females.

>Teachers like him make it worth it, y'know?
You should tell him that, I'm sure he'd really appreciate it. I always make a point to get to know my kids besides their grade in my class and it's helped me a lot with teaching. I've connected with a lot of kids who others struggled with because I tried to see their point of view or showed I cared outside of class, and kids latch onto that.
>>
>>376780330
if you think you wasted money on the wiiu then there is no point in getting a switch.

>>
>>376781209
I always try to let him know I appreciate him, and I like to think that he thinks I'm pretty cool too. One day when I was being an edgy teenager he called me into his office because he was worried that I wasn't acting like I normally was and wondered if something was wrong. It was pretty rad.
I genuinely hope that we'll be able to chill sometime when I'm done with school and it won't be weird for a guy in his mid-twenties to hang out with a highschooler
>>
>>376781209
>while for guys I'd call 80%+ of them very good at their jobs
I'd make the claim that this is because of the weird social stigma that often pushes men into the managerial part of schooling, instead of teaching. So bad teachers can possibly be okay administrators (or just be bad administrators too, whatever). Most of the teachers who stay teachers are that because they really wanted to teach.

Once you graduate you're fine. I'm in my late 20s now and have spent time with some former students every now and then just to check in with them, especially if home life isn't so great and they need to get out a little.

>>376781720
I'd agree with that, men are generally more likely to advance into administration in my experiences.

I never want to post my station here because I know it looks retarded.

It's a laptop connected to a bunch of shit. Wired keyboard, mouse, and monitor that's up on a stand for ergonomic purposes. So my setup is a dual monitor laptop that's used as a desktop because I think desktops look gay as fuck.

But I do have a coaster because I am not an animal.

Things seem like they're winding down, anon. It was nice speaking with you. You've given me more insight into how shitty teachers are actually shit and I feel less shit for thinking that.
Once again, school ain't so bad knowing people like you are around.
