Disagaea 5 might be what pushes me to get the Switch

As a newcomer to the franchise myself, I can say you don't need to play any of the others as they aren't connected by story at all (unless you play Disgaea D2 after playing the first game).

Game feels like a pretty well made game IMO, as for being "kino", it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously even though there is a take over the world plot going on and the MC has a dark and mysterious past.

The only reason to get it on the Switch is portability, since it looks like the Vita isn't get D5; that and the Switch version comes with all the DLC.

Because I dont have a PS4. The only game I wanted on PS4 was Persona 5, but I just got it for PS3 instead. I almost got it for FFXV but it suckes and is coming to PC.

Yes, when you add up the amount everything costs. If you don't care about the extra characters, then don't bother; like with most Disgaea games they're almost always there just as fan-service, with the exception of a few units.

Barring the season pass, on PS4, the total cost for all the DLC is about $45 for the DLC units.

I was in a similar situation, except I'm a pretty big fan of the series so ended up importing it. I would say that it's worth it but only if you're planning on getting other games too. D5 is very easy to sink 100+ hours into (I'm currently at 500) but only if you have an autistic rage to get your stats to stupid numbers. The game is really great desu but if no other switch titles appeal to you it's not a system seller. The DLC in my opinion definitely makes it worth the full $60 though. Hope I helped OP

That's why I stated 'barring the season pass'. You save $10 with the season pass for Disgaea 5. So that's $35 + $30 for the game.

Considering the base game $25 used, on the PS4, the Switch release is a damn good deal.

If you clocked 200 hours because of item world you will hate the new item world. It's pretty much a cycle of the same 6 stages with the same enemies. No sense of progression and it's super easy. D1 and D2 have the best item world DD2 comes close.

Last of us, Last of us 2, Uncharted 4, God of war 3, new god of war, uncharted collection, bloodborne, yakuza 0, Disagaea 5, Persona 5, Nioh and so on are games only on the PS4

1) D5 is going to be a big of a culture shock. Weapon system changed. Monsters are good. Magichange mechanic. Other elements new and old across the previous titles and the two new things being Revenge Mode and (though D3 did it first to a lesser level) pair-skills. Harder than 1, frustrating so at times, but good.
2) No. It's in fact a prequel to 1 indirectly.
3) Solid as hell, I actually openly laughed at some dialogue this time around.
