FPSes have largely not been worth playing since the 90s. Since Unreal Tournament 2004 there have only been a small handful of non-shit games in the genre. If the industry could find a way to give games like Doom multiplayer on par with modern FPSes no one would play garbage like Battlefield/CoD/Halo ever again because they have literally nothing going for them other than multiplayer.

Dark Souls 3 is the best DaS, BB is the best in soulsborne
Witcher 3 is the single most overrated game ever made, and doesn't have a single piece of good gameplay.
Nier Automata is a complete chore to play, is wholly disappointing both in characters and overall story, and is by far one of the most mediocre games I've ever played.
Battlefield 4 is the best online shooter ever made
Metal Gear never had a good story, MGSV has the best gameplay by the simple fact that it controls so well.

Skyrim is good and fun, have the longest playability in the series and sexiest collection of mods. Hating skyrim is a popular meme in /v/.
Metal Gear Solid 2 is best in the series.
The Witcher 3 is a cinematic experience, but it is still great, CDPR knows how to make a dlc.

Deus Ex aged like milk and Prey is the best immerse sim full stop. It's more streamlined than SS1/2 but it has superior gameplay regardless and ignoring 20 years of QoL improvements to still call SS2 the better game is flat out retarded.

DaS2 is not a bad game by any metric but it is still the least great of the Soulsborne series.

Having a favorite is not the same as one game being objectively better than another and anons conflate the two far too much.

Reddit is exactly as awful as 4chan and each has its pros and cons, but the reddit boogyman has destroyed /v/ for years. This board is far too easily triggered and is more prone to asinine identity political drama than even tumblr.

Halo is a great series and ODST is the best campaign.

Last Guardian was a masterpiece and the best in the trilogy.

Though gaming took a nosedive last decade, this decade has seen a massive uptick in quality especially the last two years. 2017 is the best year for gaming since the late 90s and if even a half dozen more fantastic games come out it is an easy contender for best gaming year period.

Console wars are the single worst cancer on the board and anyone who engages in them should be banned.

Journey was a brilliant game that deserved its praise, and people who lump it together with Dear Esther or Gone Home as an example of shitty pretentious indie art games is a fucking imbecile.

Battlefield 1 is not as bad as everyone says it is. Not by alot, but It's a good change of pace from doing modern settings for a long time.

Plus the soundtrack is way better than the electrodub shit 3 and 4 had.

With modern DICE games it feels like you shouldnt bother at launch and only get them as soon as premium editions come out. I love the setting for BF1 but the maps were lackluster and you had too few tickets per round at launch. Its a shame since Operations was a great idea.

This game is pretty bad. The driving controls are slippery nonsense, the shooting is monotonous, the game's audio is shittily compressed mono that sounds like it was recorded in a metal box, and the PC performance is abysmal. 3 and 4 are both better in pretty much every way except for subjective story/tone reasons
