DKC3 gets way too much shit. I get that the art style change is kind of weird, but the gameplay is super solid. I don't think the soundtrack is as memorable as 1 or 2, but it isn't bad either. 2 is actually the peak of game design, though. DKC2 is the best game ever made.

All the great devs who worked on 1 and 2 were working on N64 titles when 3 was being made, 3 is essentially a knockoff made by inferior devs, it was a side project, and it certainly feels like it. It all feels shoddy compared to 1 and 2.

It's my favorite in the series actually.

DKC3 is still a great game. Less than DKC2, sure, but it's still good. I liked that the World was actually explorable and wasn't just a straight line. Lots of secrets and interesting characters. Plus hard mode to get that 105% for the extra challenge. I'm also one of the few that liked there was something different for almost every level, made you constantly on your toes.
