I WANT to play it because it supposedly has a cool time travel mechanic or something, but it seems like such a time investment.

You kinda gave up right before it became interesting to be honest. It intentionally starts off like it will be a pervy romance game. After you get the package it shifts into more of a mystery adventure..
Basically you get the clues you need to find your father and are then roaming space and time in search of the jewels that will fully power your device and to find out what the hell is happening in the town. That's the majority of the puzzles, figuring out what happens at what time and how you can get there. The only other actual puzzles are during a certain underground segment of one of the routes, they're pretty okay but easily solved. The epilogue then turns everything on his head once again and introduces you to a section that's nearly as long as the main game, just full of story..

Also, there are some lewd moments, but those are usually reserved for the "good" endings.

Hmm. Rance VI, I'd say. It's such a good game, and in the end we ended up doing so many things with that, like redoing UI on higher resolution and translating all of the textures. It was kind of snap decision to make the game 2X the original resolution in English, and then we just rolled with it.
