>Get a job as a videogame bugtester for a triple-A publisher
>Go into the job excited and bright-eyed, I get to see all sorts of in-the-works unannounced projects
>Play my assigned project for the first time, it's so much fun even if it's early in development
>Watch every few days as new builds are pushed for us to test how they butcher the core mechanics and make it less fun and more generic with every build
>Every new build is worse than the last, all of the charming and unique and fun aspects of the game are pulled out piece by piece until the result is only a husk of the original project

I hate this. The Triple-A videogame industry was a mistake. Don't fall for the meme.
>>
>>376737612
what game
yokka laylee
>>
>>376737738
Close, but no. You'll see it at E3.
>>
>>376737612
>>Every new build is worse than the last, all of the charming and unique and fun aspects of the game are pulled out piece by piece until the result is only a husk of the original project
Sounds like your average Square Enix or Ubisoft project.
>>
>>376737776
Give us a hint then. What's the genre of the game?
>>
>>376737612
Tell us what does Kojima smells like.
>>
>>376738139
Already did, read the post.
>>
Do a better job documenting bugs. I see poorly documented shit all the time.

"I equipped a sword and died, high priority"

Now instead of developing I have to waste 5 hours of development time going back and forth in more details

"What Sword?"
"What else was equipped?"
"Where were you when this bug happened?"
"What was removed in order to equip the sword?"

And my favourite that I have to ask every fucking junior bug tester who got the job because "they like video games and have good writing skills"

"Can you replicate the bug?"

Most of my development time is stuck in meetings, and teaching juniors how to do their jobs. Fucking AAA companies
>>
>>376738250
Mario Odyssey?
>>
>>376738262
Most of the time it's no the bug tester's fault. They do their job but the asshole that's supossed to fix it don't.
>>
>>376738262
We already do all that and above. There's a very extensive bug-writing process with video and accurate descriptions sent to the developers, as well as legitimate player feedback.

I do everything I can and I'm very good at my job.
>>
>>376738354
You'd have to be pretty fortunate to guess it, anon.
>>
>>376737776
I know you'll be fired for telling us who you work for and what the game is.

So give us enough hints that we can figure it out.
>>
>>376738250
Read the post, and no you didn't.
>>
>>376738529
>similar to yokka laylee
>triple A publisher
eh, 1+1 is 2. So what was actually removed?
>>
>>376737612
That's why you should drop gamedev. It's shit.
> be QA for large IT corporation
> work with cool stuff that /g/ always spergs about (jn my case cloud storage)
> it's better to earn enough to buy many games instead of playing single game as a job
So Op...
.... thanks for betatesting.
>>
He's talking about Crash N.Sane Trilogy I bet.
>>
>>376738760
When has Mario ever not be fun? He's clearly talking about some western developer.
>>
>>376738354
Makes me think it's Odyssey if it's close to Yooka Laylee. No triple A developer's making 3D platformers. Mario's 3D mechanics have been continually dumbed down over the years and a lot of people were excited for Odyssey because of the opportunity to play with more movement options again.

My assumption here is that Mario's hat sidekick was added later and trivializes the entire game.
>>
>>376738250
So your hint is that it's triple-A? Thanks for nothing

OP here.

Does anyone else really like this song?
>>
>>376739043
Mario games are typically great regardless of their checklist aesthetics, but I can't really think of another 3d platformer by a triple-a dev. Crash bandicoot? an unannounced game?
>>
Tell us more about the mechanics, OP
>>
give us another hint, maybe 5 max? Is it rdr
>>
>>376739361
Red Dead Redemption 2
Oh.
>>
>>376737612

Try working for EA in Baton Rouge. Shit sucks from jump. It's a great place for drug connects and whores, though.
>>
>>376739467
its Knack 2
>>
>>376739505
In the first build I played, the character had a lot of really fun and interesting movement options. They were very tactile to use, and the game lended itself well to time-challenges and speedruns. It's easy to pick up for new players but if you were willing to learn some quirks on the moveset you could really haul ass around the levels.

They removed all of the quirks that made movement so fun and now the game is a boring slog to play through.
>>
>>376739510
I thought that too but then this post >>376739814 makes me think it's not so because when the hell has modern Rockstar ever made a game where the movement was always just, walk around everywhere and constantly tap A to actually run.
>>
How do you even get hired as a game tester? How does it pay?
>>
please don't be talking about cuphead

>>376739983
Find a company that does it and e-mail or call them. Most of them aren't blatant about what they do (Mine isn't) so you might need inside help. They don't want shitty high-school kids applying because they like videogames. It's a pretty standard office job and there's a lot of writing and bookwork. You do spend a large amount of time playing videogames, though - The same level of the same game, over and over.

It pays okay. Full-time at like $12/hr.

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>376740123
Nifty. Might try to get in on that.
>>
>>376739814
Any reason as to why they removed the interesting shit?
>>
>>376740246
Nope. We'd leave comments and feedback talking about things we liked to the dev's, only to have the next build come with the patch note that "We removed (thing you liked)."

I'm certain they actually just hate fun.
>>
>>376738407
I wish you were on my team, I might actually be able to develop

>>376738392
In a Typical AAA company, more time is spent verifying the bug's existent than fixing it. And the verification process can fail at many points from communication, to lack of understanding of the feature requirements.
>>
>>376740246
They wanted to make it more like galaxy games, to give a more streamlined experienced and a fake sensation of "well designed game".
>>
>>376739151
He says wait until E3 for it to be revealed though.
>>
>>376737738

>>
OP can you tighten up those graphics on level 3?
>>
>>376740452
It's an unannounced game that is a sequel to something you've never heard of.

I can't give anything else guys, sorry. I can't risk losing my paycheck.

>>
>>376741175
Well, if its on PC and on one console, considering Microsoft's "Microsoft exclusive" deal with games getting on PC and Xbox, I'd bet its a Microsoft title and the one console is the Xbox One.
>>
>>376741175
How would the movement work in VR?
>>
Should I be a playtester? I live near Orlando literally 5 minutes from an EA office, and I already get emails from them about playtest sessions, I just never actually signed up or showed up. The compensation looked like trash and I don't want to get stuck playing shovelware or mobile trash.
>>
>>376741175
I see, well I got nothing then. Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to spot it during e3.
>>
>>376741473
No, unless you're really, REALLY into it or have no other options available.y
>>
>>376740613
I'm not the guy you replied too but I also use to work at EABR MANY years ago and most of the testers were also drug dealers or knew drug dealers and the female testers were low I.Q. Sluts who enjoyed the attention of the thirsty beta neckbeards and were easy pickings for anyone who wasn't a neckbeard. It was quite the shitshow to work at and I'm glad I got out when I did
>>
>>376741819
I think that has more to do with you being in Brazil than with EA.

how the fuck will you get fired for posting on an anonymous imageboard if you aren't an absolute fucking retard you will be able to conceal your identity
>>
>>376743989
I understand that.
But really, what exactly are we supposed to talk about?
As a gamer, all I get is the final product. I don't really know what's been removed. Early Access may have given us a little more insight, but not into AAA games.
So I'm left twiddling my thumbs waiting for you to say something about it, but apparently you can't.
Where do you want this thread to go, OP?
>>
>>376744416
Mommy will tell the fbi that I'm talking about work on an anonymous image board, and they will fire me
>>
>>376745039
I don't think it's too paranoid to refrain doing that on 4chan. We kind of have a history of throwing our own under the bus for laughs. All it'd take is one anon to figure it out and tell the company one of their testers is leaking shit.

Right, guess we're all going to ignore the fact that New Super Mario Bros Wii U wasn't fun and Rayman was the best platformer to release in the last, oh, 8 years?

Maybe if the managers were willing to spend more than a few cents you could either get employees who aren't retarded or a system that actually lets you examine dumps or video captures when a bug is logged.
