Sci-fi has the advantage of introducing enough technobabble to somewhat justify all kinds of gameplay mechanics. You could have guns share the same energy resource that powers your shields, which are effectively your HP. Combine it with some kinda health gain mechanic like Bloodborne and you could have a risk reward of firing a space shotgun or laser thing or whatever at the cost of a third of your health. That's just some dumb idea I thought of right there, I'm sure there's better ways to do it.

Then again, if Miyazaki and Co. did it it'd probably just be Sorcery 2.0: Magic Missiles Ahoy.

All enemies look like the same dude in exoskeleton.
Weapons also look the same, and their swinging animations are terrible.
"Monster" enemies aka big robots look like fucking stupid gardening or construction machines.
At least LotFallen had some Darksiders dark fantasy vibe to it.
It has crafting for armor.
No stats.
It's even more corridors than LotFallen.
Environment is either washed up colours+cement or too dark.
Few weapons, no ranged ones, no magic, no secondary weapon/shield.

It's so bad it's gonna be at 10€ next winter sales.

Nothing in Dogma is "Balanced". That's part of why it's so good. It doesn't care about "muh balance". The game breaks on almost any class if you play decently and gear correctly/level high enough.

Nothing in the game, Dark Arisen included, poses any threat to any class with half-ass reasoned out items and skills.

The combat has good weight, it has a good vibe going on, it has good artistic direction, and the "Imbalance" is an irrelevant side-effect that nobody even cares about.

Arguing about "Balance" in Dragon's Dogma is entirely fucking retarded.

DS1 is objectively a better game than Des, especially now that it has DLC. There might be some stuff in demon's that is better/cooler but that's the minority. I do wish they'd kept world tendencies but that's probably the biggest thing demon's souls does better mechanically.

They really shouldn't have. That game had abysmal enemy variety, it was a chore past the first third of the game. Amrita Demons were some of the worst enemies I've ever seen- tanky, slow enemies who could kill you in one string.

I really think it might be the most overrated game ever. It had a metacritic rating about equivalent to BloodBorne when I would rate it about a 6.5 out of 10.

Also forgot about poise. That was pretty bullshit, especially near the start of the game when it was not as prominent AND nobody realized how it worked.

The world and story were pretty much the same as other games, and it gave some interesting closure to some of the questions from 1. It's not like Souls have a good story, it's just presented in an entertaining way that makes you actively work for it.

I enjoyed playing Nioh but it's no Dark souls.
Boss fights get very very same-same and of course as everyone says same enemies over and over. Kinda regret getting delux edition because I don't honestly know when I'll feel like playing new content.

I'm glad they made it and it's worth playing if you like souls COMBAT but aside from that it falls short in every other category.

Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls both had great stories and worlds.


DS3 has a world that fits together but isn't cohesive. It feels like a piecemeal of random things glue together rather than an actual cohesive land. If they wanted to take that approach they should have had the world look all warped like the dreg heap, but instead it just feels generic and uninspired. Oh fuck yes let's have more ugly poison swamps except now they're literally just ugly poison swamps that have no sense of scale to them at all.

When you were in blighttown in DS1 you felt small, you could look up and see the walls and pillars of lordran and know that you were really at the bottom of the world. Farron swamp is just a bunch of ugly trees.

DS3's story is pure ass because it revamps the same old usual dark souls tropes while also introducing some interesting new stuff that it immediately discards and never mentions again. The game should have been focused on the deep, the angels and Londor but instead we got more of the same old shit except worse.

Endings were also all garbage. At least DS2 had a good ending with Aldia's questline

So you have gun to pull or to use supplemental effects but you can't just stay back and cheese everything.

Have ammo have a energy type and enemies build a resistance to it so over using it own't work and you have to save your shots for when you really need the ranged damage.

There's a lot of ways it could work but you have to outside of conventional ways living things would take damage.

There was nothing well written about Vendrick or Aldia. Especially when 1/3 of Vendrick's dialogue is literally a recital of the DS1 opening video. Aldia was written by someone that thought players would be so mystified by the idea of there being a third path that it needed absolutely nothing added onto it to give it substance.

However, DS2's DLCs in general were better than DS3's. That includes from a story perspective, since the Ivory King plot just by itself was handled better than AoA's story, while TRC is an incoherent mess.

Yeah the bosses just kinda do their rooteen and stick their butt out or stand their for you to beat on em a bit. They get stronger but it's still a "dodge behind and butt smack, tunn away from big flashy super move, repeat" even with the last bosses.
The hardest was the bird girl who's the 3rd boss.

I really appreciate that Das3 bosses have a lot of moves that punish the lazy or 'conventional' way people tend to play. Was watching someone do abswatchers and was impressed how perfectly the attacks in the second phase caught them.

Everything in LotF felt like a child's idea of "generic fantasy". I usually hate medieval fantasy settings, yet Dark Souls handled it with such originality, consistency, wide variety of content, an impressive connecting world, characters and stories that kept me interesting, interesting enemies with a wide vairty of movesets, their placements just in the right place to test your several skills.

LotF had none of that. It just felt generic and clunky. This new one isn't impressing me either. It still looks clunky, floaty combat, generic future setting, etc.

I heard people often criticised DaS3 for having 'muh difficult' bosses, but I think thats only because they all had moves which mixed up the meta. I enjoyed it a lot, and it made the game's bosses feel a more organic than previous games.

you could just replace the arcane in bloodblorne with lasers. Instead of using items to summon a spell it could be a battery or a laser system. Then have the same gun system as bloodborne.

Basically replace bloodbornes arcane with laser shit. Replace ARC or INT stat with TECH stat that lets you use better energy beams and shit.
