I wasn't going to ever buy microsoft after that, and every day that passes confirms that I made the right call.
I fucked up and got a Wii U and that burned me hard as well, the usual nintendo bullshit of "focus on a gimmick for marketing but do piss-all with it on a first party basis, and god knows third parties have little interest besides shovelware devs"

I have my gripes with the PS4, share shit is pointless and poorly implemented (anyone who's tried to just simply view a saved video or edit one in their video editing program should understand), none of the menus loop (so you need to hold right for 3 seconds to see your full library rather than just press left 3 times, same goes for all the long-ass vertical menus), and there's other problems i'm sure i'm forgetting. But compared to the Xbone and the Wii U it stands tall.

This will be the last generation I support consoles, though. They're at the point where they have all the downfalls of PC gaming and none of the advantages, and I know for a fact if I put my Wii U/PS4 money towards a good desktop I would be far more satisfied for my money

Eventually the Xbox 360 was only narrowly beating out the PS3, because the PS3 was able to turn itself around and get some first party exclusives like Uncharted, Infamous, TLOU, etc. But now PS4 has Call of Duty and those exclusives while the Xbox One has almost nothing, so now Playstation is beating out Xbox with a huge margin

But honestly, the Xbox brand was already tanking before this generation even started. People like to think of the 360 as this runaway success that ended Sony's dominance, but it was really only a runaway success in the US, and only for a few years.

From 2009-2013, the 360 faltered. It had nothing but dudebro shooters and Kinect shit. The tide was already turning, and Sony managed to catch up by the end of the generation. The PS4 was just a continuation of that trend. The DRM fiasco was merely a catalyst that hastened a reality we were already heading towards.

Consoles wars aren't about who finishes in first, they're about who remains first the longest, and like or not, the 360 was in first for almost the entirety of that generation because it was the system you buy for Call of Duty and Halo.

I'm not trying to say that the xbox one is some great machine that is only losing because Sony bought the CoD maps. All I'm saying is that Sony saw the effect that timed DLC for CoD has on console sales and jumped at it, and guess what, it set them in stone
