Outside of hardcore fans, most people don't trust the Final Fantasy name anymore. After they spent the entire PS3 era feeding us reusable art assets in the world of 13 with thematically similar spinoff games, a lot of the "moving power" of Final Fantasy was lost.

Also, in 15's case, the whole "10 years of hype with meager payoff" didn't help.
