Boxing is probably worse for your health than MMA is. For one, in MMA when you're out it's called. You don't get 10 seconds to get up and get your head bashed again. But what you don't realise that that means you can take more shots to the head before you go out. When you do go out, you get back up to take more shots to the head. The thicker gloves in comparison to the 4oz gloves in the UFC let you take sustained damage while still being in the fight. At the time it may not seem like it hurts much, obviously because it works like padding, but your brain is getting smashed back and forth constantly and with less restraint. Boxing gloves allow people to hit harder too.

If you're worried about getting hurt then you're in the wrong sport. It's physical, it's violent and it's not for the faint of heart. If you're not concerned over your long term health you're being foolish.

I think even if Marx never existed, something akin to socialism (though not necessarily communism) would sorta come into existence at one point anyway. With all the talks about basic income being tested in scandinavia, I've got the feeling ol' Karl surely would have seen that as the next step.

That being said, viewing history as something linearily evolving is naive and simplistic.
