I recently got Blaster Master 0, it's pretty good, the subweapons for Jason are mostly garbage, but I love the extra focus on combat while in Sophia, there's actually bosses you fight while in the tank, and that's pretty good.

The free DLC characters are nice too

Honestly, Super Mario Maker stole the show. When I watched the Digital Event, I was put off because it took up any chance of a last minute surprise reveal that could have salvaged the trainwreck.The NWC and those Treehouse livesteams showing off the game convinced me to get it on launch.
Apart from that, nothing intersting. Star Fox Zero, M&L: Paper Jam, FE Fates, Chibi Robo, Yokai Watch.... no wonder people said Nintendo was at its worst that year.

I bought a Wii U at launch. Played Selda for like a week. It was massively overhyped and suffered from the same le epic open world problem MGS5 did.

I did love Splatoon on Wii U so I am looking forward to that but until then its pretty much collecting dust in its cradle

As someone who skipped 7th and 8th gen completely, I hope the Switch gets even more ports, both 1st and 3rd party.
That isn't too say I don't want new games also, but getting to play the relatively-not-so-old games for the first time on the go would be cool as fuck for me.

Realistically speaking, you can miss out on Nintendo consoles nowadays and not miss anything important in gaming. I'll pass. Nintendo consoles are never worth it long term.

I've already played Mario Kart 8, ARMS is a bit of a wild card at this point, and there's no way Xenoblade 2 will be out this year.

If people are playing Breath of the Wild in 4K at 30 FPS (with obvious glitches and not all the way through but definitely a start), on Wii U, then the fucking Switch (A WAY more popular system with very similar graphical power) will get an emulator in a year or two.
