>>
Soma is pretty good if you can handle a horrible protagonist,
Bioshock 1-2 have a nice underwater atmosphere to them, even though there are just a few outside-underwater sections.

Subnautica cvan also be pretty creepy even though it is not a horror gam

It's the same river. When it turns upside down (second picture) it becomes very dangerous.
The sign is actually not relevant to the real danger, but I bet you don't want to jump head first in the rocks either.

SUNLESS SEA

SUNLESS SEA
>>
>>376702939
upside down is kind of a weird way to describe it.

But yeah, it's a relatively shallow but pretty wide river that bottlenecks into an extremely narrow (jumping width) but extremely deep little channel. so the current is really fast and strong.
>>
>>376703110
Where do you think the water goes when the river gets narrower?

>>376703139

Largest ever recorded was 43 feet long, the one that was caught by the boating ship was 33 feet long.

We have no real idea on how big they can get, literally have less then a handful of giant squid sightings that were some days old rotting carcass.

This picture is very similar to what the river most likely looks underwater.
Pair it with strong downward currents and it is guaranted death.
>>
>>376703223
Exactly.

The river is possibly very deep and really, really fucking fast down there. It just doesn't look like it because the surface is so calm.

The river is literally a bait trap.
>>
>>376703223
Not only that, my boy.
To give you a perspective, hold out a palm in front of your face, horizontally. That's how normal rivers flow. Not turn it vertically. That's what The Stride is. It wasn't able to widen the banks of the river with the currents, instead it created a deep chasm by eroding the riverbed.
>>

I wonder if local criminals use it to dump bodies.

>>376703345
Thanks for the explanation bros. Has no one ever dropped a camera in there to stream back what it looks like?

Just don't go in then. I knwo there's some irresisitble draw to the holes but the entire silly premise just kills it for me. For example, I get very uncomfortable seeing those pictures of cave explorers wiggling through tiny holes, but can only laugh at that comic
Another example: The one with the old woman with the window that grows towards the neighbor's house or whatever, that's just slightly creepy but nothing I would call horror

>>376702735
Those are both the same river.

Most rivers like that are deceptively deep. Some have EXTREMELY deep holes dotted along them. If the current is strong enough a river can suck you down and keep you pinned long enough to drown. Fallen logs are dangerous too.

This is the norwegian anglerfish. Fishermen threw this fish overboard due to its powerful bite and hideous appearance, never once considering cooking it.
Today, tourists come to our country to try this insanely delicious fish. My grandfather regularly puts out nets to catch them, and they are god-like in texture and taste.

This is the rose fish. A deep sea fish that, once brought to the surface, its eyes bulge out from the difference in pressure. The bones in its fins also carry a form of toxin.

In 1978, the "NOFOUL" rubber coating of her AN/SQS-26 sonar dome was damaged by multiple cuts over 8 percent of the dome surface. Nearly all of the cuts contained remnants of sharp, curved claws found on the rims of suction cups of some squid tentacles. The claws were much larger than those of any squid that had been discovered at that time.[3]

shadow over innsmouth is really good as well. I love the way he seamlessly transitions his characters; the MC just accepts his 'ancestry' and then goes to break out a cousin from a mental hospital. like wut?

/vg/ isn't for game discussion, it's the place where all tripfags migrated. They're there for each other, not the games. I'm opposed to /vg/ on a conceptual level because it was always a terrible solution by moot to a problem that wasn't as big as people thought it was (didn't require making a board) but it managed to get rid of all the tripfags here, something that was previously thought impossible without the aid of some magical device that would stab anyone in the face who used a tripcode on /v/.

>>376716731
I see what you're saying and agree that it didn't need a board but tripfags aren't really a problem, especially now that everyone can have the tripfag anonimizer easily.

/vg/ just has a different kind of discussion. /v/ is usually focused on what is good or bad about a game whereas /vg/ is more about mechanics, getting help and mods. At least from what I've seen, I don't go into the multiplayer or MMO generals. The co-op and single player only games seem to have a better community for the most part.

Yes but that is different from witnessing mass extinction

It's ridiculous that it ever survived so long in the first place. All it takes is one fungus evolving to be good at eating it, and there goes the whole fucking thing basically overnight.
>>
>>376717978
Wait maybe I'm retarded but I don't understand how a bunch of trees constitutes one thing? I get that they're all the same tree but it doesn't make sense to me.

It's more like a huge fungal growth underground with big mushrooms on top
Mushrooms usually aren't just that one thing you pluck out of the ground either
>>
>>376719171
read article you are retarded
>>
>>376719171
It is not the tree that is seen as one thing, its the giant network that it formed and this is seen as one.
>>
>>376718608
I read an article on it that said it might be due to deer and other animals eating the new shoots before they had a chance to become trees. Some of the area was fenced off to keep those animals out and the article said the new growth was doing better.

It's not a horror game, but Subnautica's going to be nightmare-inducing soon when the Phantom Leviathan is finished and in the Lost River.
