If a program leaves behind files like this then it is malware by definition and you should refuse to use it (or anything else made by the software's creator) in the future because the developers have infringed upon your basic freedoms as a user.

>>
>>376698716
whichever one you feel like using

to be honest they're more of a safety net than anything else, the best anti-virus is having safe browsing habits

personally I have avast running in the background and run MBAM every once in a while to double check if anything got past avast. I typically don't have problems though cause I rarely download fishy shit and use ublock and noscript.
>>
>>376698983
A whatware? Is the new word kool kidz sprout around in those times?
>>
honestly ad blockers are more useful than antiviruses lately, but yeah >>376699902

surprised there's no autoscanning malware, malwarebytes is a manual scanner

whats that about avast and ransomware? i tend to not keep up with AV program stats since they're constantly goddamn shifting. Avira became full of nagware, Avast didn't nag. I forget the third one, it was the one that was supposed to be hyper-sensitive and constantly spit out false positives.
>>
>>376700110
wasn't there a russian one that squealed like a pig?
>>
Kaspersky, Bitdefender and McAfee are generally the best three but even then having a common sense generally does the job well enough.

mcafee has been garbage for over a decade as well as most consumer protection software. when intel bought the company (and later washed their hands of it last month) and renamed it to intel security mcafee himself thanked them for freeing his name "from this terrible association with the worst software on the planet."
>>
>>376699970
It's the kinds of malacious programs that encrypts all your files and tell you to buy them back. One guy made a ransomware that forced you to complete touhou on hard or something.
>>
>>376701119
Kek is this even real? If an idiot made a thing like dat i would ironically tip my fedora to him but i used avast for 30 yrs more or less and never gave me a single problem.

>>
>>376701917
go visit the /g/ wiki and find out yourself
>>
>>376701739
Christ what an awful comparison.

Lemme take a shot at explaining this to you
>safety glasses
When do you wear those?
When you're sawing something, probably.

Are you always sawing? No?
Then you don't need to wear safety glasses.

On the Internet, all you need is to equip yourself with common sense.
The common sense to
1) Don't visit shady websites
2) If visiting shady websites, activate simple programs like ad and script blockers
3) Never download from an untrusted source

You don't need bloatware running checks on every file in your system and accidentally blocking harmless pages to be safe online.
>>
>>376701957
Your analogies are seriously shit anon.

Not using an anti-virus because you can use common sense is more like avoiding bad neighbourhoods and dark alleyways, because you don't want to get fucked up.

You can stop trying now lol.
>>
>>376701957
Wearing a seatbelt IS common sense.

>>
>>376698259
>anti virus in 2017
there are no viruses anymore
no one want to lose money from ads
>>
>>376702419
who, Anonymous? or Anonymous? ;]
>>
>>376702090
And? Just because a neighborhood is considered safe compared to shady back alleys and whatnot, it doesn't mean that they are immune to these fucking dangers and whatnot, and if that happens you'll be sorry you didn't get something to protect yourself in case of an emergency. It's like crackers hacking into banks and putting viruses there. Sure, the security is gonna be tight and patched up fast, but if you go in there during the affected period you can be sure you will be fucked to shreds if you don't have an antivirus.
>>
>>376702051
the fucking page doesnt even work

okay...
>>
>>376702736
There's being safe, and then there's being paranoid.

Guess which one you are.
>>
>>376702738
then to answer your question, yes, COMODO was written there as a recommendation.
however, I've never seen it be discussed on /g/ and the only av software they '''''recommend'''' is either kaspersky or nod32. Some say bitdefender

Avast is shit and literally takes your pc as hostage
>>
>>376702493
Retard
>>
>>376702736
If you're already making sure to avoid some dangers, don't you think you'd be aware no matter what? You're starting to sound like you never leave your house, afraid ofany potential danger that could present itself to you.

Like the baby in Spirited Away.
>>
>>376702929
also to add up to this, the most recommended choice of protection is still common sense and malwarebytes for ondemand.
Viruses don't crawl into your fucking computer without you doing anything, do on-demand scan and hope you won't be a victim of 0day exploits which you won't be protected from AV software anyways
>>
>>376699637
I bet you'd pull out instead of using condoms, too
>>
I guess nobody was around for Lostboy, huh?

Anyway I use bitdefender just because it's an extra saftey net on top of Adblock and common sense.
>>
>>376704204
>lostboy
>not a case of common sense failure
>>
>>376704241
Nobody's perfect anon. It did happen to a lot of people, and I'm sure even some of them were smarter than you in the traditional sense.

Antivirus is just a good idea in case something goes wrong, and these days with lots of banks/payment solutions/medical centers being ill-equipped to deal with new intrusion software, it's definitely not just paranoia.
>>
>>376698716
Windows defender
>>
>>376704484
that's their problem, enterprises have a good reason to not cheap out on protection.
I, however, have no reason to run some bloat which keeps wasting my resources to make me feel safe, all while selling my information on the side
>>
>>376704204
No one was around for lovesan
>>
>>376704802
Whatever makes you feel better, but realize that your data is probably already out there if you're using windows or any halfway popular internet browser.
>>
>>376704802
why would you pick a bloated antivirus or any software for that matter

ofcourse it's out there, everything is botnet. That however is not an argument to allow even more parties to have access to it.
>windows took my data
>oh well, might as well give it to my neighbor as well, since it's out there
I used to have AV back when internet started with all the malware in ads and email until avast took my computer hostage. After that I used kaspersky and nod32(only 2 I'm willing to recommend as they aren't as intrusive) until I realized I haven't had any malware in 6-7 years so what's the fucking point
Do a scan every other day if you're that concerned
