S4 League. It had good connections, a good player base, wasn't reliant on payments, and so on. It was literally a third person Quake with some melee weapons and a fun aesthetic. I just went and watched a video of gameplay for the first time in so long, and I would definitely play it again if I was guaranteed a good time. With BRs plaguing the game, hackers likely running rampant, and if I recall correctly the unwanted spyware and malware that's REQUIRED to play, it's impossible to play and have fun again.

No one forces you to restart. It's not difficult to beat the game on your first playthrough. And as for dragon form you just need to use it very sparingly. It's ridiculously OP and can tare through bosses like butter. Think of it like a consumable, not a spell. You could probably kill 3 or 4 bosses without getting to 100% which means the game basically gives you a free pass for 3 or 4 bosses of your choosing. Pretty damn generous if you ask me.

The alpha didn't have any enemies that weren't in the final game, and a different camera angle and lock on isn't going to prevent you from stunlocking and one shotting bosses, if anything it'll just incentivize them since fighting enemies normally would become all but impossible.

No, blizzards problem is that they tried to make wow more apealling to the young playerbase, who only know wow by reputation, instead of the older playerbase which grew up with the warcrsft games. So instead of dumbing down mechanics raids and dungeons they should make them more complex, and for gods sake erase WoD(from a storywise point of view, didn't play it, stopped after assault of orgrimmar). Legion is another gimmick, trying to bring back into the game a fan favorite, Illidan(might actually work for me). Also, the wow online community has always been shit, I mean, remmeber the bloodplague or the horde bringing that huge tauren demon(forgot his name) to stormwind and let him cause havoc over there, the community has always been toxic.

The alpha and the beta had more enemies appearing in different combinations throughout it's levels, as well as them using more of their attacks more often. That alone would make the enemy variety issue seem a bit less apparent. There was a lot more changed than just the camera angle and the lock on movement, though the latter would absolutely have an effect on how you're moving. Durability was fine though, and being able to tailor your equipment to your playstyle is a great and huge aspect of the game. Despite them moving forward with the current version there's still not much stopping them from going back to the original version, it wouldn't be as much of an issue as you think. Though it would have better for it to have always been like that, which is why I first said that they should have stayed the course as well. The current version is the one that's the "disaster", it was just so well designed at first that it masks it.

But it's true worth was in being none of those but taking some aspects of each, the deeper combat system lets you make those encounters more interesting and replayable for example.

It would've made it nearly impossible to play "normally" on the highest difficulties without exploiting cheese strats like windstorm or axe spin2win spam. While you can argue that punishing bad players by making the game not fun is an incentive for them to get better, there must be a better way to handle that.

I doubt that it would be as polarizing as you say, and that's not using every tool, that's maximizing a single tool. With how much variety in strategies are possible with the game's base mechanics there would be many more ways to beat such things even with how it normally played. Because that's how it played before and it worked that way, as well as being designed to be like that moving forward. Plus it's likely only relying on single moves like that would be made weaker. The fact it's there at all means any player has to take heed of it no matter their skill level. You're talking about a theoretical ultimate player who would never make any mistake in a game they're playing for the first time like anyone, which is unrealistic to say the least. Also there wasn't any huge amount of tedium in how it was applied before, obtaining repairs was clear and the penalty was just being a little weaker, which leads to slightly longer fights or learning them better. It's not even a case of making it not fun, your actions aren't hard impacted.

This. Turn heroic into normal and mythic into heroic. Delete LFR. That way things are more difficult by default without needing to clear the same content 3 to 4 times.
Same with dungeons. Keep LFG but make the dungeons normal/heroic only and have heroics scaled like challenge mode.
Make world content harder, like WQs that actually require a group of five.
